To be honest I'm unsure what exactly makes a light novel a light novel

like I know light novels are a light read, but some books that I loved as a kid like Artemis Fowl reads like a light novel to me even though they're not considered one, but other novels that a lot of people consider light novels like ORV seem pretty heavy ??. I am definitely a dialogue person when it comes to writing very show not tell rather than giving crazy detailed descriptions probably because I'm imagining how I would draw it later for my webtoon so maybe I'm already more a light novel writer?
I've only been on the forums for a day and a half and I already feel like I'm meeting a celebrity from seeing your name pop up in all the scribble hub lore around here
Redefine the meaning yourself. If you know the baseline, then you could do something creative with it. Don’t think too much about the specifics since LN were mostly non-English and had to be translated anyway. There are a lot of things they use that we can’t if pursuing efficiency in getting out our creative intent.
My favourite LN, Chivalry of a Failed Knight, only reads good because the author knows how to build up before action and deliver with something so absurd it actually makes me smile (can’t see enemy? MC awakens mind reading in a sense. Can’t overpower enemy? Limit removal is used. More overpowered than that? Break through the limit and go beyond humanity).
If not for the illustrations, I wouldn’t be able to visualise a lot of it. The most important part of an LN is just to use the illustrations on the most epic or important moments. Illustrate what can’t be described in words. A lot can be inferred by a previous image even without another drawing.
if you draw a main character, then odds are the audience will have an idea of how people in your world look like. Monster? Even one image of them will change viewer expectation. A lot of creative stuff can be done this way.
If you want to gain popularity that way before doing your own thing is finding what’s trending right now and make an Webnovel version promising some images in downtime. Nothing is difficult if you’re already able to do it (best I can do is make AI art of the things I want).
