but you've practically gotta be living under a rock to not know about these scams. I've only been publishing online for 50 days or so, and it only took like 3 days to see those messages multiple times, and even if I hadn't seen it multiple times, it's just SO sus.

this. my first WN site ever (not here) I admit it, I was all excited like a kid on christmas eve, I reported back to my writing group, and... guy was like "oh, you mean you're all excited to see an art scammer, I bet."

and yeah, that made *way* more sense, lol.

Welp, just posted my first chapter on here and kinda sad to see that all the glowing feedback is from scammers. Ah, well. Glad I looked at the forums before replying, at least!

The "Hey, buddy" as a form of address was funny, at least. Half tempted to reply with "I'm not your buddy, pal."

Edit to add: Very glad this resource exists! I wasn't planning to respond to this message, but regardless, this is invaluable. You've helped at least one newbie out.

Demn I frickin interacted with a bot named celestir.

The comments were just too good to be true, and I still chat in discord. I thought she was just gonna offer some 'ideas' for the story, but turns out...she wants to give me ideas for my story cover which I don't really need since I was working on it before.

Glad to say.... I didn't get scammed Instead, I got compliments after showing my piece. lmao

Whenever i saw "normal" names like Evelyn, Richard, Jay, Mark, etc, i instantly feel they have ulterior motives to me
