:meowsip:The best way of identifying them is probably through their patreons as that won't change that easily.

I think there also needs to be some kind of announcement header on the main page about the purge going on.
Just something, anything, otherwise it's likely we're going to see a lot of 'bug reports' because regular, casual readers don't know what the fuck is going on. lol

It's good that this is happening, but it's also going to be dumpsterfire.

There are three threads already, which is... a lot less than I expected by now, but more will come, I'm sure.

That would help.

For what reason were translations banned? Was it for legal reason or just preferences of the site owners?

Both, but mostly the former. Hosting unauthorized translations exposes the site to potential copyright issues, and there is already an older sister site for translation, Novel Updates. Scribble hub was made to provide space for English originals. As such, translations were never allowed here.

I'm asking the reason for the rule itself. Also this thread says as of 2026 translations are banned so prior to that it would have been allowed.
As of today it is a blanket ban. They were not allowed since day one.
Reason? This is a site for originals, not translations. The end.

Check the date when the rule was created at the bottom. You weren't even a member when it was made. It was simply not enforced until today, but because of the influx of translations that tried to play the system, now its blanket banned. No more nice Tony, its judgement day.

They were always prohibited, but until today they were not deleted outright. They were hidden from the front page and searches once exposed.

It was never allowed. Never as in never. It was tolerated to some extent before, being that you're allowed to host your translation, but it will be essentially be shadowbanned. But many translators have chosen to abuse this power by either not following the rules and self report themselves, or masquearading as the actual author, hiding the fact that it's a translation.

Saying "as of 2026 translations are not allowed" is not technically correct. It would be more accurate to say that, as of 2026, that rule will be more strictly enforced.

Because I told Tony to do it as a part of deep state. Get over it, kid.
There is no reason to get upset sorry for asking a question.

Also it would be nice if the removed stories would show up as deleted in your reading list. Currently they show as active stories, but when clicked on the page is missing since they have been removed.

I definitely don't mind enforcing the ban on translations, especially if its been a site-wide rule since day 1, but I do worry about how the enforcement has been rolled out.

I'm not a translator of any sort, every word I've posted on this website or any other website has been written by me. And yet, I still had a story that is NOT a translation hidden this morning.

But I wasn't given any sort of official message from the website that it was hidden, I had to be told by my readers. Luckily I have a large audience on this website, so I was informed within hours, but I worry about how many smaller writers have had stories that are NOT translations hidden by the purge today who won't even know why they're suddenly not getting any reader growth going forward.

Mentioning this to my writer colleagues in another Discord and one of them also found that one of their stories that is NOT a translation was hidden on the site today, something they wouldn't have known if I hadn't told them they needed to check.

Both of us have sent in emails through the proper channels to get the issue resolved and I have high hopes from what others have said that it will indeed be fixed for us soon, but I'm nevertheless concerned about how many other writers who are not translators are out there getting their stories shadow banned because of false positives like what me and my friend are currently dealing with.

TL;DR: There probably should have been some sort of automated official alert sent out with the removal of every translation just so those of us who do not post translations but had stories erroneously removed in this purge anyways can at least know and contact the website admins about it.
