Well, I did ask on the forum and people seemed to say it was okay since I was the original author, but I don't know if it was taken out of referencement or not, since this story doesn't get views, so it is possible that it was treated as a regular translation (or it is just really unpopular, I don't know)

I guess I am just so old that I never looked at AI as anything I ever waited to use. I used notebooks until I was in high school back in 1984, then I used word processing programs.

See, using AI cuts against everything I like about writing. I love the brainstorming, I love creating a character in my head, and I absolutely love getting the scenes floating in my head.

So writing what I envision is like getting a dream out on paper. To me the journey is just as important as the completion. I like the fun and the energy I feel when I produce a chapter or story. If I used AI all that wouldn't be out of my head, I wouldn't find the fulfillment of making something your own even if it's not super popular.

I guess that's sappy enough for right now ?

It never came up until Sailus Gebel used it as an excuse to troll everyone.

The site itself describes itself in Google as "This web novel hosting site allows authors to publish their stories and readers to discover new content. It offers a variety of genres and has an active community."

While "publishing their novels" - an emphasis of their - probably rules out translations, it doesn't rule out fan-fictions.

I take issue with some things said here. Namely the idea that majority of stories here are ai slop. It's not. Not even the most popular stories are AI. Using word processor is not the same thing as using AI to write. Anyone who makes the argument is disingenuous. And before you accuse me, I use neither docs or word.

If you see people violating the rules, report them. As God Howard said, "it just works." Sailus and I reported a ton of translations, and all were taken down. If you simply report them, they go away. Even if they had 300k views. Tony being the chad he is still took that 300k view translation that hit number 1 trending down.

Can I ask what you use? Word, which I've now purchased with the office suite twice, freezes all the time and I have to wait to continue writing.

We knew this was coming. This is one of many small consequences to come from AI entering the "writing" sector. Majority wanted to be able to use AI to generate free content. It is too late to turn back now...

Can I ask what you use? Word, which I've now purchased with the office suite twice, freezes all the time and I have to wait to continue writing.

I use an older version of Word on a Windows 10. I believe yours is freezing due to Microshaft's latest and most up-to-date version running AI-powered telemetry data collection in your program version, though I could be wrong. I would recommend Libre Office, if only they did not have one fatal bug I can't deal with (no "working" option to disable auto-saves).

There isn't even any SH app. The only one available is a beta version on SH discord server. The one on google play is fake. I have no idea how saying the most blatant lie that you can fact check in 10 seconds is ok for people.

I'm guessing this thread is mostly about asking GPT to write you a full 500 page novel but I just wanna say you still do all this but now you have somebody to ask who will never get tired of listening to you rant about your ideas. and sure it's an echo chamber but for people like me, who hate every idea they come up with and cringes at every word they write, it's kinda nice to have somebody, even if it is a bot say "Yo that's actually pretty good you should post it"

PS: I want to make it extra super, carved in stone clear, This is not an accusation towards the person I am replying to. I was using the word "YOU" generally. I should've worded the above message better but I'm not going to change it now cause of the misunderstanding, Just in case anyone misses my intent I want this to be a very solid clarification.

No, I don't use any AI, I'm not sure why you said that I "still do" when I've never touched it.
As to the "it's kinda nice to.."
That bot/AI isn't real. It's an empty compliment that's utterly meaningless because it's not real. You'd be better off talking to yourself in the mirror.

Like I started with, I could be reading way too much into what was said up there.

Now I do understand the idea that you hate everything you write. I'm pretty sure that any writer at one time or another has had that same sentiment. I have that feeling a ton, just try and work through it. Eventually you will.

I use Libre Office, but you have to get the newest version and enable autosaving. It's not enabled by default.

So if you use an ai model to roleplay a scenario in multiple views that's OK. If you use it to write that's highly dependent on how.

When I was saying "You" I wasn't meaning You personally, I'm talking about my personal experience and the "you" as meant as anyone who uses AI to talk out ideas, get edits, or any of that. It was a reply to the sentiment not to you as a person, that everyone who uses AI just types in a prompt and shoots out 500 pages in a second.

I think you might have misread my intent because everyone is jumpy at the accusation at AI use, or maybe I just worded things poorly, either way, I didn't mean any offence, or any attack on you either, your post was just a good example of the sentiment I was trying to talk about. So I hope there's no hard feelings. and again I was not trying to accuse YOU of using AI, I was using the You as a royal second hand sort of way, if that makes sense.
