This is something that youtube and patreon (and maybe some other places) have that I think would fit well on Scribble Hub.
Basically, it's a special button for comments that the author can press to notify the commenter that they've seen and appreciated the comment. This is separate from the usual likes, which the author should still be able to use.

As an author, I think it would be nice to let my commenters know that I have read and appreciate their comment, without having to post a reply telling them as such, which would clutter the comments section with junk.

As a reader, it would be nice to get a notification that the author has read my comment and appreciates it, because at the moment, there is little feedback.

Of course, the option to turn off such notifications would be a must if this were to be implemented.

isn't that just the usual work of a writer though? ;)
It's not that specific and simple, is it?
It's not about convenience. It's mainly about not cluttering the comments. The comments section is for discussing the chapter, not me thanking people for commenting (which I would like to do).
That's my point, and an inconvenience for some, definitely.

There already is a "Thumbs Up/Thumbs Down" option on comments on stories, at least on chapters. Haven't seen any overall comments on an entire book so not sure if it exists there too?
