Is anyone else addicted to the Ranking?

What do you mean?

You choose your own tags for your story, haha.
Apparently I accidentally included a few, or something. Or maybe thought I would be taking a story one way when the characters took it another, and it wound up ranking in the "abandoned" path.

Ah, that is true. If you select a Tag once it takes a while until you disappear from the rankings.

It's nice to know... I check it maybe once every two to three months. However, it's kinda stupid and silly to obsess over it, as the only thing that matters for the list is VIEWS.
Doesn't matter if your story is great or has a 2.0 rating. Doesn't matter if 90% dropped it.
Also, you can just make up your own tags, and since your story is the only one with that tag, you'll always be at the top spot.
oh, do tell. Spill it! We need a "noir" tag, didn't know I could make a tag!

Hi, I’m a relatively new author who has been posting for almost a year.

Basically, I’m addicted to the ranking by genre and find myself checking it daily, calculating how many more views or days it will take to rank up, and researching the competition to see whether I can overtake those above me and when. It's unhealthy, to say the least, since I end up wasting almost an hour on it every day even though I know it won't change anytime soon. Does anyone else have this problem?

I'm also considering ranking genres based on how low their top positions are and then writing a story that hits all of them just so I can have a top-ranked story. Anyone else? Or is it just me?
I am new lol i didn't know there were rankings like that here. But it's nice to know, that's interesting.

I’m just happy I have rankings at all. I’ve only been here for like two and a half weeks. They aren’t front page rankings, but it’s still slight visibility. So I’m pleased with that. My highest tag ranking tag is “goblins” which also makes me happy. I spent a lot of time writing my Goblin characters ?

I'm at the bottom of the barrel for "polite protagonist" but like a baby bird coming up a notch here and there. Hoping for a slow burn on one of my works as I get them on here.

There's a ranking system other than the main-page's trending?
By genres/tags?
Didn't really notice.
Or pay much attention to be honest.
Might have to go look to see where I'm at with my series later.
