How to stay motivated to write? I am a new writer and my work is also very new, I am aware of the fact that most web novels don't take off if they don't have at least 50 chapter or so. But still the lack fo engagement and declining views are very demotivating. So I want to know how did you guys finish your first novel despite these feelings. Ignore my broken English as it is not my first language.

For something that isn't a GL, gender bender, smut story, you are doing fine. You even have people in your comments.

Just keep writing, even if its only a few hundred words a day. Once you have enough, post your next chapter, then take a break, and start the next.


And follow the advice they are giving you... I only glanced over your prologue, what the circlegray guy said was true... your writing is difficult to follow.

I mean what you said is true but there are few days Or moments where motivation just goes down. Especially when newly uploaded chapter have very less views. About the prologue I definitely took the advice and followed it by revising my chapter 1 and so on.

Keep writing. Don't worry too much about the numbers, especially with how fresh your story is. Like Julia Darkcrest said, you're doing pretty good, focus on that.

Of course it does, but it's a hobby, not your job. Don't beat yourself to death with it because you are not gaining a lot of readers already.


Now, here is a biased, unasked-for opinion from a guy who writes a popular smut fanfic and has a duck with Hulk arms as an avatar. Do with it what you will.

Honestly, it's an interesting concept, though not my cup of tea, but you should flesh the idea out more before you put pen to paper, so to speak.

Then find a writer you enjoy reading or whose work is easy to read, and try to emulate their style. How did they introduce their world, their characters, and the hook?

How their paragraph structures are set up, and how their dialogue is written. How do their characters interact?

Basically, look at writing you like to read from a more technical aspect, and see if you can try to emulate it with your own work. From there, you can build out your own style over time, but you need to get the basics down first.


But what do I know, I am just a smut writer. Do what you want to do, man. It is your book!

My first book had 0 readers on Wattpad and 5 readers on Tapas, but I wrote simply because I wanted to. And I managed to push it to more than 30 chapters.

First, I'm not saying you should write constantly. Burnout, fatigue, and writer's block are real. You can rest when you're tired. You can write when you're in the mood. You can complain when you're not getting enough readers. That's humane.

But the most important thing is your writing goal. If you want to build an imaginative world, then improving the quality of your narrative is key. If you're chasing popularity, then market research is key. If you're just writing for fun, then writing when you're in the mood and have free time is key.

You can write based on your artistic vision. Focus on your goal and find the steps to achieve it.

You have to stop paying attention to the stats and analytics. Stop checking them, remember why you started writing in the first place, and write. If you're struggling to write, or are starting to feel like your story sucks, take a week off from writing. I've been going through something similar and just taking a few days away from writing, and not checking the stats, has already made me feel better mentally and ready to get back into it.

Write for the sake of yourself and your story. If you care about the views or whatever, you will only be chasing a happiness that will never belong to you

Your English is completely comprehensible, not what I'd call 'broken English' at all.

That said, I'd say if you're writing to make a career out of things, your first novel probably won't be the one that takes off. Nor the second. What makes a career professional writer is going back and writing more every day, day in, day out, until you've got a million words under your belt and multiple stories told.

Thing is, writing as a profession isn't the only reason to write. Writing, storytelling, is an art, and art is it's own reward. Make your art. If no one follows it now, you've still made it. You've still created something that did not exist before, and that's a beautiful and powerful thing in and of itself.

It's funny. But the more problematic the text is, the more attention it gets. Compared to mine, you have nothing to worry about. What about motivation. It's strange if you don't feel satisfied with the attention you already have. If you're lacking in narrative, start with the mundane. This is not a topic to delve into, but it usually forms the basis of all the issues you can explore in your story. I think there's a problem with inspiration. Try to find topics and directions that don't require you to invent events, but rather eliminate unnecessary details.

I've suffered the same problems, and in order to get motivated about the story i talk to someone about it. get their feedback, ask who their favorite character is, etc.
