I do so much research. I've bought books on various forms of magic, history, and philosophy. There are dozens of pages that I have bookmarked on the internet that I use for ideas. old maps that include war maps, historical maps, and mythos maps adorn my walls for reference. Cultural books and religious texts are also very useful so I have plenty that I've bought from libraries and used bookstores.

I don’t plan a story, so I usually just research while in the writing process. If I‘m in the drafting process and suddenly find something I’m not sure about, I’ll just do a quick search on Google. “Write what you know” is pretty much true for me because the stuffs I write about are usually the mixed of everything I’ve read; I don’t need to do research most of the time since I already have knowledge of them in my head.

I research on a need-to-know basis. If I'm unsure what it's called or what it is, I do my research and then continue writing, till I'm unsure of something else. Rinse and repeat.

A lot of Latin? Literally, if you want a fairly decent name with a fun in-joke for readers that know what to look for you can just look up words in Latin and name characters with what you find that's appropriate to whatever you want to have the character represent. Lazy Name Generation FTW!!!

Since I kinda do Historical Fantasy, it would be a lot? My google research did land me on one or three research articles, like one on tobacco factories in the 1800s and a website on Victorian justice systems. I landed on a site detailing an older constitution I bought one book on old houses (mainly because I find old houses pretty) because I just can't easily wander in the old house turned museum these days.

I may be a nerd but at least I am historically accurate and mythos accurate most of the time in my stories. The times where I wasn't were either a lack of information or creative freedoms.
