I research very specific stuff.

Like... How childraising worked on middle ages, if children had time to play, how often people bathed, how rinsing their teeth worked... This sort of specific stuff.

I don't do any research for more broader things related to the setting of the story, what I want for my plot and whatnot. Those I make on my own.

Just realizing the amount of nordic, anime, and disney research I have done for my novels. Don't even wanna mention the name generators, among others, I have used. What about you guys, what research do yall do for yalls novels?
Not a lot. I do open the Internet for name ideas or theme naming.

Or to understand some concepts and express them more clearly since midway through (volume 4 and 5, to be specific) I start (relatively) heavily incorporating some philosophical themes. Gotta learn to understand them more so I can simplify them or modify them through some pseudo-technobabbly BS I can think of to incorporate into my dialogue.

For the BDSM scenes in my book. I based on some random hentai that i watched and pour in a little personal knowledge as i lurked the dark reaches of the internet to gain that over the years.

I also do a quick research on what are the names of some contraptions and i also read a lot of doujinshi and watch a ton of hentai and porn too to be able to write that.

For the sex scenes, i just imagine the scenes like i was in there. You got to ask yourself sometimes, how can i make this sex scene good? So, there you have it lol.

I read a lot of manga, watch a lot of anime, videos on youtube, read fiction and consume a shit ton of knowledge for reference as well.

For An Explorer's Guide, I bought a medical textbook off eBay and followed it. For The Apple Grotto Nymph, I researched agricultural stuff pretty often. My two fanfictions, the ones I have posted here, made me read the Vampire: The Masquerade wiki and watch podcasts. For The Security Lamb, I had to research some things about religion. And, finally, for The Antique Shop I have to research towns and landmarks. So, yes, books take a lot of research.
