It all depends on how serious a story you have, I suppose.

Two of my villains are Timur and Camila... hers is kind of villainous, but Timur? Sounds like the name of someone who is pouring my coffee at Starbucks and would spell my name Yue-ah.

You wouldn't know by their names that they were in charge of a massive criminal cartel, and were about to auction off one of my characters, and r*pe the other one in her BDSM Harem.
WHAT IN SAM HELLS POSSESED YOU TO WRITE THAT

What I mean is, characters often become memorable first because of what they do in the story than in their names, which a lot of authors beginning their career are always having a problem in figuring out. OP is not the only one I saw having same dillema; I got personal friends getting interrupted thinking about the names that should 'show their roles' in the story, instead of the other way around.

Edit: and to add, overthinking about characters' names in relevance to their roles reads unnatural, unless there's a compelling reason behind it. Like that one manga I read about a character named 'Inukai' and it's all about dogs and dog-girls.

Then let's keep that trend going. Look, he's arrogant too, right? I think he'd name himself in a way that shows his achievements of absorbing and unifying all sins into himself. At first, I thought maybe something like Duke Monad would be okay, but... I really don't like that name, still it is a name and it's your character, so you can pick it if you want; it means something like "the total of all things" so, it fits.

But, honestly, I am sort of a fan of Duke Henosis. It's Greek. I think it means something like "union with the mystical" or "mystical unity" or something like that. I offered. Your choice.
ok cuz I usually am pretty creative with the powerful god like characters The Goddess I already know her name but it hasnt been reavealed yet and I dont wanna leak it in case the story blows up but Axious is the concept god Axi for Axis because he is the Axis around all concepts and ous for a uniqe prefix

its a matrix style isekai story though it is heavy with the meta stuff

Have you never met an actual villian? They are not all about wanting to take over the world...

let me tell you about this time I was in Croatia... actually, Ill just sum it up. At a dance club, Old guy wanted to talk to one of the Canadians visiting, I was escorted by two large men to the other side of the bar, sat down beside the man. He bought me a few drinks and snapped his fingers, two women suddenly were on each of my legs and me and the man chatted for two hours in the clubs about Canada.

It was one of the weirdest events of my life.

Edit - one of the bodyguards escorted me back to the ship afterwards, and that was when I found out he was in a cartel of some sort that I didn't recognize the name of.

@Ryazai That's good advice right there. Pay close attention to that. :blob_okay:

Kind of reminds me what happens after clocking out of work in South Korea and the coworkers catch you out the door... don't expect to return home sober. :blobrofl:

seriously? Lots of novels have that shit in them on this site. Long as it is tagged it is fine is my understanding... And my chars were not raped, but the implication was there as I didnt want to write that they were.

check the rules to confirm but there are a lot of dark things being written, not just in the smut side of the house where I live.

ScribbleHub is more lenient than the royal assholes in Royal Road, and that includes our community here.

Yes, this. Totally this. There are a ton of stuff here that makes even me wonder if it is even legal to publish. I know I wouldn't write scenes like what I've come across.

Probably should stop hijacking OPs thread about villian names...

I still say Tim is a great name though.

the whole story starts with the mc killin himself and meeting a meta author goddess who views ppl as ink to be rewritten on a whim shes the overall main villain
So the villian is stuck in a time loop? Is he aware of it?

I still think you should follow the advice @Hans.Trondheim suggested; it's good to establish the person before smacking a label on them.
