Maybe that reader didn't read enough Japanese Isekais? This is the bad thing with reading too many CN wn, they are filled with mc's who kills decisively.

I recently got my first 1-star, from a reader on ch 3, saying something about the MC staring at boobs too much...

I write smut,
MC is an old man whose plumbing was just fixed after over 10 years of ED, and
I was just putting in descriptors for the women... it wasn't even smutty... I described the male characters as well.

You can't make everyone happy. So don't, and enjoy your writing.

Wow. Closest I had was "Why is this (support character) still alive? He's annoying!" and a few other comments along those lines. The character was arrogant, unlikeable and ... blanking on the term now, but being cheated on by his assigned romantic partner.
But... well, I had plans for him... and the daughter he didn't know he had with another woman... so...
Well, had to remove the story and the comment due to Pocket FM rules, sadly..

So yeah, apparently someone got particularly upset (TYPED IN CAPS) that my utterly commoner MC (no money, no connection, litterally just a farmer in a small village) didn't kill the antagonists (a couple of other village thugs, so not world ending threat by any mean) in broad daylight.

Now to be fair, the antagonists assaulted the MC in the past, and just made threat against his family. But the MC also acknowledged in that same scene that those two had to be deal with, but he must find a chance to keep it out of the public's eyes. (And he did deal with them a dozen chapters later)

Apparently, that was too much of a cowardly move for this particular reader. He'd rather my MC got thrown in jail and left his family defenseless, I guess. I'm surpised he got that far and still hasn't realized that my MC isn't some triggerhappy edgelord or an OP protagonist that can do whatever he wanted without looking at the consequences.

Right, sorry for the rant, I guess starting the day with that (literally just woke up) affects me a little.

You'll never be able to please everyone, but I'd say that's cause for celebration.
That said, if you intend to reply, might I suggest simply asserting the fact that you are the story's author, and this is your narrative and creative expression. That if they want a different story, they are more than welcome to write one themselves, but yours, will follow your vision for the narrative.

Of course, you're welcome to alter, edit, expand upon, or even completely ignore this (and that comment) as well.

For the record though, that would seem to be the case as well. Just keep doing what you're doing. There's plenty of people out there who prefer characters that aren't angsty edgelords on power-trips.

I mainly read CN wn now as well (MTL), haven't touched a JP Isekai in years. My fav genres are SoL, cooking, gamemaker, etc... There aren't many edgelord MC in those.

Same, MTL are much better nowadays. What SoL are you reading rn? Or any recommendations. It is hard to find good ones in this economy.
