So this thread is for those of us who are going to pledge not to spend money on anything we do not enjoy, and are not going to be convinced to play something we do not enjoy.

This means, if you like souls likes... spend your money on them, if you do not... do not let anyone convince you that you are missing out.
How are you missing out on something you do not enjoy?

Let me tell you my own story.
I used to like the OLD Assassin Creed games.
You know, one hit assassinations.
Running around some city with tall buildings.
Simple combat with some fun gadgets.

Then here comes ASS CREED ORIGINS.
Some people be like... oh man that was great!
I hated it.
I hated the level gating.
I hated how it extended a game due to the need to level up.

But..
FOMO.
I convinced myself I needed to experience it because all these other people were saying it was good.

Then... I played Odyssey. And Valhalla.
I spent over a hundred hours each.
It felt like a chore.
I was not enjoying it.
It wasn't fun.

It was FOMO....

Now I'm going to say this.
SCREW FOMO.

I am not wasting time on things that I don't find fun.

It's time to play Space Marine 2.

I agree.

I played every Witcher game and just couldn't get into any of them. Now I don't think it was the gameplay i couldn't get with, but the themes of the story and characters i did not appreciate like so many seemed to.

Anyway, I'm not interested in that universe or games anymore. No more listening to how it's the best RPG ever.

Had a similar issue with Baldurs gate 3. The characters turned me off of the game.

I kinda of agree. I've played most of the OG AC games (my personal favorite is Revelations). I never played Origins, I don't have much if an opinion on it, and I only enjoyed Odyssey as a Greek game as opposed to an AC game. Could never get into Valhalla. So I stopped buying Ubisoft games. And Bioware games for similar reasons.

The secret to beating fomo is not caring about missing out, like many things that create fomo sure are amazing in their own ways, but does that really matter? There are so many things we are missing out even when we don't realize, so many things that will forever change lifes for the worse or better, like the potential death of stop killing games.

Peer pressure is just annoying.

Way ahead of you on that one. Been done for a long time on buying games I don’t like. I have it figured out, and am firm on not wasting my money.

The thing is, I don’t care about petty stuff. You give me these.

1. An actual deep and complex story.

2. Actually exciting and engaging gameplay.

3. For the love of god, put in banger music. Not those things that blend so far into the background, that I question if it has any.
—> If the music is bad, that just makes a game worse. Like seriously, simple things enhances a game’s experience tremendously.
—> It can take a simple RPGmaker game from okay, to really good.

4. Great art direction.
—> I am tired of the washed out world, characters, etc. This is a problem with AAA+ games, so yeah. I don’t play those much.

5. Actually creative systems.

Give me these, and you won’t hear a complaint. Note, even if the gameplay isn’t too up there. If everything else is in line, I am good.
