Do people do fan fiction of fan fiction? Like, Isekai into fan fiction of other people's fan fiction about a story?
I'm asking because I had an odd conversation and I doubt it's going anywhere, but they wanted to know if I'd mind fan fiction about my superhero story. I'm not sure how I feel about that. Have any of you thought about writing a story based on the setting of another writer here? Would you allow someone else to write a story in your setting?
Then it got me thinking about, I wonder if anyone ever swapped characters? Like, have an Isekai where you wind up in author X's story and their character winds up in your story and then do a side story about that nonsense for a while?
Then I got the idea of a contest, where everyone had to have written at least one story, you randomly put all the stories in a spreadsheet, then every author has to move their MC into the setting of the story below them on the list, except for the last guy who gets moved to the top. Or you get a New MC for your story, one or the other. Wondering if that's ever been done.
