Dragon Age Veilguard is completely insufferable.

My goodness... how can a game get so bad!
The graphics are good, but the art style is bad.
The characters talk to your characters like they're a toddler.
The tone is all wrong... the writing is horrendous...
I've been watching a lot of content on this to decide whether to buy it hoping that maybe they would give us the dreadwolf like promised.

Majority of the reviewers who gave positive reviews use the words "return to form" when it's obviously not.
I say this as someone who played through the first 3 games and liked 1 and 2 (iffy on 3, but was still playable).

Man, I had the hope for a sequel for years and now we get this slop. Where's the dread wolf?

Accept it. You thought there was any shred of those there who made BioWare mean something. They long left the company.

These studios are mouthpieces of people who came in after the studio already had a name, taking it over and using it for themselves.

Handle any game from a big company as nothing else but low-effort slop. True creativity can't shine in a corporate environment.

Embrace indie.

Simply WOKE. They even added that dialogue 'You don't get to tell me what to do. Keep that in mind next time you speak.'> Female MC to Male companion. ?? Chatgpt dialogues. AI voice acting. Character creation> WTF THEY DID LOL. Scars, freaking scars! Those insane delusional people. Instead of sending them to mental hospital, they told them to make a game.

I can't stand what they've done to one of my all-time favorite games.
I tried to ignore it, but I just can’t. It triggers me too much, and it's an insult to everything I loved about Origins and the Dragon Age lore.

I'll pretend it doesn't exist, hoping it fails and that EA finally shuts Bioware down for good.
What’s dead should stay buried.

Time to play DAO again.

I so hope they go out of business... I don't want them to ruin ME for me. Again.

I was just thinking of doing a new run of DAO, maybe with some mods to enhance the graphics—as a form of protest.

As for Mass Effect, I agree. I hope BioWare is shut down before they do more damage. I have high hopes for Exodus as an alternative to ME, as it's developed by former BioWare members and looks promising.

Andromeda was complete slop.
It had better shooting mechanics, but ME was more about immersion and decision making. Andromeda completely sucked with that.

You saw nothing yet. It is exactly what you get when the businesses stop behaving like businesses and start behaving like politicians.

They won't stop, because politicians don't care about making money. At least, not in the direct fashion the businesses do. Even corrupt politicians don't behave like businesses, they behave like politicians. Since they make money through having power and no opposition, not by selling products like businesses do.

Only legal way how to get rid of the politicians is not to vote for him.

Alas, you can't vote for the CEO of the EA. So they could do anything they want as long as they are comfortable spending money. And they are very comfortable spending money. They have so much money they wouldn't ever run out, especially if the power is at stake. Politician would do the same (usually it is not their money who they are spending, but it is that easier if you don't have budget). Control the narrative, badmouth the opposition, isolate the critics, that's what they do, because that's a politician handbook.

I'd say that the worst thing about this is that I enjoy playing good video games. I enjoy playing immersive games that do not have delusional characters, and I miss the times when we could trust reviewers to give us information about a game before buying.

Anyway.
The reason stuff like this is disappointing is because as a gamer you hope you can enjoy your past time with franchises you look forward too, now they release garbage and all that time you've been waiting has gone down the drain.

It's annoying, but like everything in life, things are not always great.

So it peaked at 70k players on Steam. Which is much fewer than other AAA games with less marketing.

This is with all the take downs of anything critical of the game.
With the amount of paid journalist shilling and propoganda, I sometimes wonder how gaming became like this.

Gaming went from a past time we could say something was good or something sucked to: "You can't criticize our game we made with politics inside it."

Of course this is unsustainable.

Except, the Dragon Age is a massive success for them.

They aren't trying to outsell the competing products.

They have access to nearly an infinite supply of money. Spending a few hundred millions is nothing for them, but what they gain is a complete control over the people's expression playing the game of Risk with the franchises and Intellectual Properties.

When they say "Soon you will have no game to play" they mean it. It is not good for business, but they are not playing by business rules anymore. They are unelected politicians. All politicians want to limit the ways the opposition could express themselves.

:blob_ninja: I think the major issue with this game is that it's supposed to be a sequel, and it's not, from what I hear. I'll probably buy it once it goes on discount just to experience the "Story", but uh, it's a real disappointment if I don't get to see the conclusion to my Solas. :blob_pat_sad:
