Ok... here's on of the user stats windows on one of my stories. 8 dropped..

I would genuinely like to know WHY... I mean make it anonymous obviously ... But I think knowing WHY they dropped a book would be good to know... help out a writer.

then again.. I may be crazy

This is a 100% AI story. Opened a random chapter, and it's not even close (mixed/edited) but fully AI, confirmed by three different sites and my own eyes, which are already making my brain hurt.
It takes a while until you realize it, but even subconsciously, you get tired of the AI phrasing.

Maybe you didn't generate it, but you sure as well used it to fully rewrite/edit your story. Pretty sure that's the main reason for the drops. "Only" losing 8 out of around 40 is relatively low and pretty good for AI. I just need to glance at your choice of words when you write in this thread and then compare it with your story.

Anyway, no one here on SH appreciates the AI's attempt at "serious writing". It's not even about the plot but about the choice of words and general style. NOBODY talks like that! NOBODY narrates like that. Only AI does it that way.

A lot of people use “Dropped” as a stand in for “Not Interested” and never read past your synopsis or tags. An actual “Not Interested” tag would be nice.
No offense, this sounds like cope. If they weren't interested, they wouldn't put it in their reading list at all.

I use "dropped" both for works I actually read and dropped, and for works that looked interesting at a glance, but after checking the synopsis and reviews I decide not to read it.
It lets me avoid checking those stories again and wasting clicks and time (and saving me disappointment), by not showing them on the front page, and showing the "dropped" reading list icon next to their name in search.

My god, you actually do what was said. This needs a fix; there should be another category besides "dropped" to do this in. Those poor authors.

There is.
You can also add your own in the list settings and configure it to work how you wish (for example, to just remove it from search/main page)

:blob_facepalm: I am aware you can make a custom list; it still falls under one of the available categories.

The fix needed is a way to omit stories without messing with the author's user stats.

Given how rare comments are, someone filling out an "exit interview" seems ... unlikely even if it were mandated somehow.

I once gave an exit interview. I had given a particular futa-fic a 3-star rating and a positive review (in which I admitted I wasn't going to read further even though I wanted futa fans to give it a chance); the author messaged me privately in the ScribbleHub forum's conversations, and when I privately told her why I wasn't enjoying the story anymore and was dropping it, she blocked me.

Every author wants feedback. Most can't handle even constructive criticism, however, and when they are asking for feedback, they really mean empty flattery.

It kind of shocked me, because I wasn't even asking her to change anything; it's her story, and she can write for others. I just told her why it wasn't working for me.

Once I replied to an author asking for feedback in comments. I got a reply not even from the author, but the author's girlfriend (who is also an author, but not of that story), who then also blocked me.
