Oh... um...I see. Well...I'll wait for this event. Eager to try the challenge.
As you are the only one online right now, I must ask. Who would be a good moderator for this? Or someone I could ask.
Definitely interesting all right. I just don't know about the challenging system.
aye, im trying to be unique (I'm not like other girls ?)

There is a problem with this concept.

Most of the actual best authors on this site don't usually even bother with the forums.

I would consider myself mid-tier so far as the authors on this site go, and mid-tier authors like me are about the best that are actually seen here in the forums.

Even at my level, which I have already said is no where near the best even this site has to offer, I don't really feel much reason to participate in something like this because I already have my hands full with managing all the things for my own story.

The main reason for stuff like this is to get a little bit of extra recognition to hopefully draw some attention to your work. It is good for things like that, but if you are already getting plenty of attention then it really doesn't have any actual draw.

So, yeah... high-tier authors wouldn't even realize this contest was a thing, and mid-tier authors don't have much of an interest in this sort of thing. What, then, does that leave?

(Also, there's a second problem here. This contest does not test for one's skills as an author. It only tests for one's skills as a writer. A person's skills as a writer measures only their ability to write. For an author, though, one's writing skills are only one item in a very wide tool-kit that also involves self-marketing, ability to read the market, and a little bit of luck and good timing. It is very hard to design an actual contest to measure those other skills. You can be an incredibly skilled writer, and yet fail hard as an author.)

the points you make are logical, i guess it depends on how one approaches this. personally i don't care about the competitive aspect of this, it just seems fun. maybe the winner isn't the best author or whatever, but that doesn't matter to me, perfection is delusion. the winner won cos folk enjoyed their entry/s and that's about all that matters.

randomness and having fun as community seems more enticing to me than measuring skills and engaging in high-tier competitiveness. like playing chess in a cafe instead of working your ass off to reach the world championship.

I wouldn't mind joining this competition. How long would each section be and how long would the competition last? What are the rules and what is used to measure who wins?
Paul, I choose you.

See there’s one huge flaw with your criticism.

the fact that there’s this one concept called “fun” and it’s not serious. You’re saying this like there’s money on the line, or something. It’s just a fun thing for authors to do lmao. All this talk of tests and whatnot is kinda pointless when it’s just an opportunity to know the community better. Who cares that the high level people aren’t joining? I’d say this is for you if:

A. You have nothing better to do.
B. Need a break from your usual content.
C. If you wanna know your peers better.
D.Wanna read shit.
Or put simply: it’s not that deep.

nah, I choose you to find me an event organizer :)
Oh, I'm bad at that but I think I can work something out. I'll get back to you tomorrow after I can think about this and decide if I am capable of completing the task.
