Why does she still look like she's still in elementary school?
I really think the production staff dropped the ball on promotions. There's never been a successful Supergirl series/movie in history, and I don't imagine it's going to happen anytime soon with that image.

Honestly, I feel like part of the problem is that they really just try to sell her as female Superman. There's nothing wrong with a female character as strong or even stronger than Superman, but literally just marketing her as girl Superman isn't gonna make her interesting.

They're following the wrong story. Superman: The Animated Series did it right. Why not follow that story...?

It has been the trend, take a well-known character, and change something about that character to try and pander to specific target audience.

Honestly, I can kind of see why. From a business standpoint, when you take an existing, popular character or franchise, you already have a fan base the moment you start making it, and it's much easier to market it. You also already have a lot of world building and characterization you can build on. Compared to making something original, it can be both cheaper and less risky, which is what investors care about most. Incidentally, it's also why fan fictions are so common.
