Authors, if you make an original story do you ever think about making another one?

Hi, I'm new here just joined a few days ago. For me, i had a different knack of creating different stories not just the one I'm writing right now. I just recently posted my first story, just waiting for it to be reviewed. As for right now i have 50+ different story concepts or maybe that's just me. I have a ton of ideas for making different flavors of stories like romance, isekai, hero/fantasy hero, slice of life and etc. Each story laced with how i do storytelling.

And if ever you make a different story than your main, what would it be?

Note: Im so nervous right now as im writing this lol, still a shy guy in heart.

Mine would be about CEO romance, inner palace drama, overthrowing the government, and women empowerment. You know, all the things banned by the CCP.

We all got tons of ideas in our head that demands our attention. However, audiences want consistent authors, so if you don't discipline yourself and keep on churning out unfinished stories, you'll only end in failure.

Or someone will report your account thinking you are a translator because you have so many ongoing stories updated at the same time.

Honestly, my problem is that I constantly want to start something new without finishing the old stuff. Going from LitRPG variants of being in a game to the Cyberpunk genre, zombie apocalypse novels, 4K/kingdom building, grimdark or just random smut orientated plots.

In my case it means other stories will end up on hiatus. But yeah, if you have the time to spend on more then a single novel then I can defenitely see one or two different genres so you have something to switch between as a fun option. Realistically speaking though, if you want to publish in a more professional way, focussing on 1 story until your in the 50 chapter range before even thinking about starting a second project would probably be best.

Focus on the stories that you can complete. I've seen too many stopping stories after being released less than 10 chapters.

During my first year, I started with 1 story at the start of the year, then during the second half of the year I started a second one.

Then for the next two years, I only wrote those two stories. Now that my first story is nearing its end, and I am feeling more confident with my skills, am I trying to exploring writing a few more.

Getting the ideas is the easiest part for sure! The hardest part is staying consistent with the stories you want to finish when you would rather be working on a shiny new idea.

For me, the hardest part is writing with just one hand.

Focus on one project and at bare minimum write a very through outline with plot points and an ending before even thinking of starting something new. You do not want to end up like some authors on this site with half a dozen or more stories going simultaneously anywhere from 50-100 chapters long burn yourself out go on hiatus and never come back. Or like George RR Martin and never f$cking finish a damm book. Got another idea great write it down so you don’t forget. Finish the other story. Writers block and you got ideas for the other story great take a break and write them down and get back to the other story. There’s nothing more annoying in the world than an unfinished story thats really good but the author has stopped writing.

You don't need to type (write) it. The latest keyboards simply listen to your speech and translate it into text.

But they also listens to everything else. I don't want tech companies to know what am I doing at home.

If I had infinite time I’d have about 5 ongoing stories, but I have a patreon giving me a small but Useful amount of money each month so I need to keep my patrons happy with chapter 130+ of my ongoing primary story that I can just barely maintain a weekly release for.

As usual, the idea of writing something comes up at the beginning. But the question of "how to make it better?" remains unresolved, and various options arise. Most importantly, it turns out that there are rules for doing this in a way that allows the novel to be read by more than just the author. As a result, there are not only variations in quality, but also alternative ways of expressing certain feelings or narratives. It's great when a single novel allows for a seamless integration of these elements of fantasy. However, this is not always the case.

Funnily enough the story I'm already writing is planned, i remember planning it last year and started making it without any prior knowledge on how to write. Just an outline, it has 16 arc already so far. Not looking so good for me, my story has a 3 parter while arc 1-10 is part 1. my mistake on my part but ill think i'll just merge two arcs into 1, i did the outline even before i started writing.

I hate unfinished stories too. I have plans to release a separate series which is light hearted compared to my main story which will compliment my original work since its a tragedy, action based and lots of suffering by MC, side characters and nameless background characters. Only when i finish some specific parts of my story other than that i think i'd work more in my main project.

If I wasn't limited by particular struggles in my brain, such as depression, anxiety, etc, I'd be churning out stories on the regular.
Editing stories is like pulling teeth half the time. I hate it so much.

But I'm content with my first story.
Got a smaller second one in the works that won't take much editing, since it's a fun little diary/journal format.

Yet in my head, I got ideas for at least a couple dozen more.
One in particular that has Lord of the Rings level of lore and world-building.
I would die from all the editing for that one. :blob_dizzy:
