From my experience, popular books are rarely entertaining for me, though I may not have searched thoroughly enough. Most books that touch my favorite topics aren't exactly popular, at least not in mainstream media. Rare few of them are well-known on some writing sites (Vigor Mortis is quite popular with 6,5M views on RR, for example), but I don't think any of them reached a wide enough audience to be considered globally popular.

I have pretty high standards for stories though, so even when I find stories with themes I like, I often drop them if they're badly written.

I've been so focused on my own work that I haven't had the time to even consider reading someone else's. :blob_pat_sad:
Dino brother, you write! It is way cooler than reading. Take me for example, I've been on hiatus for how long, 3 years? Meanwhile you were writing all this time. You deserve, at the very least least, a chocolate medal for not giving up.
