Wait, if we end up making the snake civilization a thing and the Hydra is the leader of the civilization...

Wouldn't the standard greeting among snakes end up being: "Hail Hydra"?!

You can use the freestyle room! If you want training as a quest, I think some people have figured out ways to do formulate it on the quest board!

developing our techniques in combat or developing magic.
Even so, it might be a level 4 quest tho, since looking at the quests, other than when you get bad luck at border of the zone near asteria or south of the villager near the horde, generally you don't really need magic or know how to fight proper. In my own narrative knowing how to not stab yourself in the face, already qualify at Basic lvl 1 (this is just for me tho), I just engineer situation to handle various objects.

But certainly I think you can circumvent traditional learning methods by using freestyle and tavern.... I don't think there is a lot of lore on mana awakening, so you can make one up and it can be one of the methods.

I believe there is a quest

The Glowy Rocks under the River. (Updated)
Sponsor
: Alex the Curious Merchant
Location: River Near Scribel City
Required Level: 2
Objectives:
  • Discovered any Mana Glowstone's mineral vein under the riverbed. (A part of the surface-level vein has been discovered)
  • Minor Objective: Research Mana Glowstone usage.
  • Read this report.
  • Mined and collected 1 big standard bag worth of Mana Glowstone.
Library Source

Description:
An adventure named Ryzen discovered several glowy stones containing mana inside it. Please find the mineral vein under the riverbed or trace the source of the Mana Glowstone. If you find any useful usage of these minerals, feel free to report it. I will prepare the finest weapon for a non-rank adventurer.

Rewards:
  • EXP: 40
  • Money: 10G
  • Item: One metal weapon of your choosing (Completed the Minor Objective to obtain this reward.)
  • Item: A mini portable mana battery. (Filled it with a Mana Glowstone to efficiently absorb the mana containing inside it.)
there is opportunity there to get familiar with mana for your character

Personally all quest rewards are nice and you can level up, but at the end of the day its better to drive the story your story, so I kind of lean towards failing a quest if it makes better lore for later.

And this is just me. I played around in the start to test the game and see where the limits are but generally anything too outside of the norm makes the game boring, build the narrative bit by bit make the journey more entertaining so its kind of prudent to self nerf all the time.

Considering my Character, creating, the "slime-slayer" spear at Lv1 and now the near death experience, at lv2, I might have something interesting happen near the end of LV2, but I am feeling if too many "events" happen, things might get a bit stale by the time I reach a proper capital city.

I am getting long winded here, but lets say you want to learn magic, chart an interesting way to get it. thru the lore. There is the book at the market so you are just short on mana. So all you just need that. Go for it. But know that this event might be a definnig moment for you character's history.

Also right now Scribel City does not have a magic academy, and might never will. And if it does, I can't promise my character won't find a corrupt and evil teacher and get that school shut down post haste :blob_wink:

Is the world-building with reference from the Tavern okay? Or do we only accept source from quest reports?

I'd be on the side that tavern should be okay, since most adventurers gather there. So it would be expected that adventurers from all parts of the world would go to a tavern, and a tavern is where adventurers share tales over ale and food after all.

You need at least one primary source from a quest report. But you can use tavern or elsewhere as supporting sources.

For example, you shouldn’t completely make up a flower in the tavern and then add it to the library.

If you found a flower on a quest — then you have an entry. If someone did something extra with that flower in the tavern, like cause it to catch on fire weirdly —yeah you can add that.
