What do people think?

My thought if like two people team up to get 5 slimes each, to me that is sort of a half award. Whereas if each party got 10 slimes (20 total), that’s sort of like a full award for both?
That works for gathering quests, but it's not nearly as simple for stuff like exploration quests...

I'm partial to full exp, but money split evenly across party members.

I’m fine either way, so we can just pick a system here and go with it — or go the chaos route where the receptionist decides lol XD

For me, the thought process was putting the currency in a range that most English-speaking countries are familiar with?

Like a similar strategy is taken with the Pokémon or JRPG games, I think. A potion costing 100G or 300G is very similar to the yen valuation.
This is also why I mentioned if you're going to multiply the currency, do it by 100, since 10 dollars/euros/etc is definitely not daily expenses, but 100 dollars is close.

Who spends 100$/day? That's 3000$/month... *shivers*

I'd die of hunger if the cost of living was that high! xD

where the receptionist decides
Actually, I'd prefer that, coz I would like to see people haggle for more rewards, or the staff reduce rewards due to vague details that can be taken as mistakes in the quest.

Well, the chaos route has worked for the most part so far, so it might be fine tbh~

That's why i said close....
Although at least in places like San Franciso in the United States, it's even more. Just renting a one bedroom apartment is already $3500 per month so....

The downside to this is that it opens up the possibly of players pricing things in a way that makes the math slightly more annoying.

Like an omelet costing 21G and a shirt costing 43G

In contrast, daily items costing an easy number like 2G or 4G or 3G is convenient for players to process and encourages rounding.

Silver was just an example, you might as well have G and C, with 10C = 1G
Yeah, although the more I think about it, the x10 scale probably should have been there in the beginning.

The thing about the “daily living cost” perfectly costing 1 (unit) means that players need to actively work with two currency names (or alternatively decimals), because most items are priced in between that range.

I think in an ideal world, if this were designed over from scratch, the middle currency would have a very similar valuation to the USD or Euro. Like a meal being $10 and a $2 bottle of water makes a lot of intuitive sense to people.

There could be sub denominations like 100C = 1G, but they wouldn’t explicitly need to be used (or known) by most players on a regular purpose aside from lore.

If you rescale the daily living cost to a whole number, a value like 25 or 50 would fit around most people’s expectations.

In either case, I think some kind of multiplication on the main currency would have put the numbers in a more natural territory for most people.

Time for me to grind my other character :blob_popcorn:

Though I'm kinda scared that he won't get along with the other adverturers. I feel like if he went to the tavern, he'd either brush off or murder everyone there. :sweating_profusely:

I prefer a single currency because it's less a hassle to edit whenever I need to spend something. I just need to click on one number. Two currency I need to click on two numbers sometimes and I'm too lazy for that.

The City Guard quest seems like it's gonna be a really long one. Not sure if I start writing it at midnight. ?

yo, you up for it?
Err maybe. It's almost midnight for me and I'm going out with my sister tomorrow, but we can start writing it and see how it goes. I'll send you the link!

Dude, I agree. I want to get that done sooner rather than later though since it unlocks quite a few other quests.
