So recently, I've written a chapter on an interrogation scene in which my character had to do an interrogation but has no clue, so she prepares to crush the mans balls. I think a lot of boys always comment on "ball hurty" that's why I chose it.

Anyways. People on SH seem to be less risk averse and into it than royalroad. Here's the random data behind it (old images but they show the trend).

Royalroad. A big drop of 58 users. (Counting 235 as continuing)

Scribblehub. Somehow an increase of 10 users who re-read the chapter.

Lesson learned : I can only get freaky at different places.

Heh. In Between Earth and Pyrroth, I kind of alluded to this... One character asks the guy they're interrogating if he ever saw the movie Dragnet. He asks what that could possibly have to do with anything, and the character replies: "Remember the interrogation scene? There just happens to be a drawer at just the right height. And what are the odds that the surveillance system might fail at just the time I decide to introduce that drawer to your balls?"

This method involves the use of only one item, a shaving knife. We do not use it to slit someone's wrist or neck. All it is used for is to shave. At first, we shave their moustache, then their beard. Sounds innocent enough? Then we shave their heads. Is it still nice and innocent? Now we strip him naked, we then shave their legs, making it very clear to them that we don't care about being 'careful'. So by the time we're 'done' with their legs, there would be so many open wounds. But poor guy, it's no good to let his wounds get infected, so let's wash his wound, with salt. Do use solid salt, not salt water. We don't want him to be too comfortable. Then we start work on their... privates.

2. The irritating method

This method does not physically harm the victim. What it does is make him extremely irritated that he would agree to spill everything just for it to stop. The problem with this method is that you need to know exactly what would irritate him the most. You can also play on the person's phobias. For example, if he is afraid of heights, hold him over a ledge. If he hates the grating sound of chalk on blackboard, use that. If he hates the voice of Cardi B, make him listen to her songs. The possibilities are endless.

3. Torment and promise

This method can be outright cruel. Let's say a man has a threshold of pain that he can handle, and beyond that, they will blank out and becomes unresponsive. But what if the pain is not on him, but on another person, someone he has deep feelings for. In this method, you do not torture the man, you torture his family, especially if his family is someone he loves. Any family man would fold and speak the truth and only the truth for the promise of his family's release, even if he himself doesn't survive afterward.

2. They need to stop because a subject unconscious or dead is much less of a source of information, useful or otherwise.
3. walk in. Casual, but clinical. Be exceedingly polite.

5. take a finger off with an axe with no warning.
7. quite casually, drop it down into a highball of vodka.
8. toast their good health, then wolf it back.
9. show no reaction of any kind.
10. Now proceed to ask questions politely, and get quick helpful answers.

Physical and psychological torture are not mutually exclusive. "Soft torture" involves physically harming someone not to hurt them but to instill into their psyche that you have full control over them. For example:

1. Natives tying up settlers on stakes so the sun would burn them.
2. Soviets leaving prisoners exposed to the extreme cold.
3. Modern waterboarding to instill a feeling of drowning.
4. Playing loud noises on prisoners so they struggle to sleep and/or placing them in a room so quiet they can hear their heartbeat.
5. Starving and dehydrating someone only to force feed them excessively later.
6. That thing China would do where they'd tie you up completely and place you in a way that a water droplet would continuously pester you repeatedly.
7. Placing a prisoner in total darkness and/or in a room with extremely bright lights to harm their eyes.
8. etc.

Soft torture is time-consuming; it can take weeks or months, but it has a terrifyingly high success rate. Much higher than the old "Let's just cause him pain" method.
