self-monologue are need for foreshadowing, and yapping also come across with slice of life moment, when they reduce the tension of the story. the dialogue and self-monologue shouldn't go in the direction of "i'm [x], i'm living in [x],..." like introduction. i personally don't mind ppl yapping...

whoever written well. i typically read GB story since fem protagonist's story often act very out of their gender. they would often steel into romance domain (where this strong girl suddenly fallen for this strong guy, this dominant male for no reason) , or this girl act like a man for no reason...

Depend how much you would go for that tragedy. If it's just once in a while then it's ok, or just subplot so the mc could shine (become hero and save the day), you can remove it since it's just subplot/subgenre. but if it's tragedy with tragedy altogether (typical grimdark fantasy) then it...

Yes, the hardest part was the pacing; you want to make the pacing feel natural, yet on the other hand, you really want to skip past them to the most exciting part. Sometimes you need foreshadowing, or cliffhanger.

Hardest: Describe something, an environment, and world-building. Heaviest: Writing dialog with extra interaction. Easiest: Fighting scene. Lightest: Bickering/banter.

Sadly, romance was one of the most popular tags out there, so for better visibility, authors often put up the romance tag in there, even though their story has little to do with romance.
