Writing Just for fun, let's talk about message.

The message of my stories is to indoctrinate you into liking cute maids. In seriousness, I write and read stories to be entertained, any message that comes across is coincidental.

    Contact With Readers

I usually leave author's notes or talk in the comment sections, although I wish there was a way to message my readers saying something like "Hey sorry I haven't uploaded a new chapter in a month, I swear I'm working on it"

List all the cliches that you come across while reading web novels on SH?

This is me sometimes. I get too attached to my own characters and don't want to put them through anything too harsh. I've been trying to up it lately, though.

    I know I’m complaining much but…

Part of the reason I mainly write harem stories is I have a bunch of character ideas I like, and the only way I can get them all in is to do a harem. Additionally, it also helps prevent relationships from becoming stale over the course of the work, since if I'm juggling several relationships...

How do you create your book covers?

I commissioned an artist. You can find good ones on Fiverr as low as $20-30. My covers have been in the $50-70 range, and I'm pretty happy with how they turned out.

Balancing Between Story Structure and Word Counts/Length

It's the one with the maid with blue hair (also my profile picture). When I started writing but hadn't actually posted online yet, I thought people expected like novel-length updates at a time, so I wrote and designed that story specifically with that in mind. Obviously I was a bit mistaken on...

Balancing Between Story Structure and Word Counts/Length

To add to what others have said, my most popular series is one where all chapters are 20k+ words, and on my newer series I routinely break 5-6k on a lot of chapters. The majority of readers will stick around for longer chapters if it's interesting.

What have been the worst comments or hot takes you have received?

The very first comment I got on my first story's first chapter was something like 'your MC is a cuck' which was very confusing since there was no sex (in that chapter) and I didn't think he had displayed any tendencies of one. When I asked why they thought that, they deleted their comment.

    Enlightenment

I wouldn't go so far as to call it 'enlightenment', but there are times where I'm writing and get a very satisfied feeling at what I just wrote. Like when a scene I built up to finally plays out and you feel like your wrote a satisfying climax to that specific plot thread. Or when you have an...

How does your IRL reflect in your writing?

For story ideas, they usually come from reading or watching something and thinking 'this concept is good but the execution sucks' and I go from there, trying to do it better (or at least more to what I would prefer). As for characters, some are based on me, some on people I know, and some based...

The Agony of the 1-Star Review - Should We Rethink Harsh Critique?

I know this is easy to say, but I usually don't worry about ratings. My main metric for success is followers/readers, since that means someone is enjoying your story enough to say "I wanna read more"

Writing Bite Size vs Lenghty Chapters

With my first novel, I started posting 20-25k word chapters, and I got a mix of "I love these super long chapters" and "these are way too long", so with my other two I instead release them in batches of 3-5k word chapters that I release intermittently over a weekend, and that seems to work okay...
