    Cover Art Resources

Glad to know? I guess. That has to get annoying, though. Improved safety regulations for industrial automation would be good, yes. I also disagree with unnecessarily dangerous working environments in the name of profit. And funny enough, I do follow some tailors on social media that lament the...

    Cover Art Resources

How is asking someone to use stock art instead of genAI asking them to spend 100s of hours learning art, when most people have to add their own Titles already? House MD is a modern hospital AU of the Sherlock Holmes formula. :P This is where things get more subjective. Someone having fun with...

    Cover Art Resources

Are you arguing that fully transformative works written from scratch are the same as regenerated scraps pieced together? If so, I'll agree to disagree. Also, fanfiction is as old as writing. And a lot of it is published. *points at Wicked and every Sherlock Holmes adaptation, including House.*

    Cover Art Resources

This is literally a thread of free resources to make covers easily. It's an alternative people can use or not. I made one of my own covers in like 20 minutes using only built in resources with IbisPaint, which was probably faster than trying to generate one. (On a side note, you really should...

    Cover Art Resources

Thank you for the answer. For me, there is a world of difference between artists and writers taking inspiration from each other to create something new, and generative AI's outright plagiarism. It's fairly standard for any commission to provide a snap of the progress so you know you're getting...

    Cover Art Resources

You are welcome to, but as long as this technology directly competes and puts out of work the people it is stealing from, I will continue to encourage others not to use it. :D Machine learning can be an extraordinary helpful tool, but current models aren't it. Just out of curiosity, but if...

    Cover Art Resources

The extensive use of Generative AI covers these days depresses me. I strongly believe most major GenAI platforms are guilty of mass theft from artists and unethical business practices. They steal just as much from artists as writers, so I want to encourage solidarity in not using it. [Edit: Feel...

I made this for a cover, but should I add some shade above his eyes?

Writing What is the consensus regarding using indented paragraphs?

Indents for paragraphs don't work well on small screens. Those are more for printed books or ebooks on a handheld reader. I use linebreaks between scenes to distinguish separation.

    Taboo/Illegal tags??

They aren’t uncommon subjects in literature. Flowers in the Attic sold over 40 million copies, and Game of Thrones is wildly popular. Fiction is a pretty normal place to explore dark and taboo subjects.

    Cover Font/Placement

At the moment I'm using IbisPaint. Great art program (free w/ads or $10 one time). The text editor is a little annoying, but it has a ton of built in fonts and materials.

I'd like to ask your opinion...

Best writing advice I ever got was that chapters should be the length needed to get across what you want at that point in the story. So it's fine if one chapter is 1k and another is 5k and whatever in between. I know that doesn't entirely work with serial fiction, where readers want some...

What do you consider to be generic Isekai Fantasy?

Any Portal Fantasy, really. "Person from real world goes to a fantasy world of some kind." While the newer Isekai genres can be fun (in a video game, reincarnated, etc), I'm still a sucker for the classics like The Wizard of Oz. :D
