That people read it and enjoy it. Personally, I never really understood the appeal of writing stories that nobody reads. I like writing, but I do think I need people to read them to get motivation.

Horrible take, of course a book with no story is going to suck. But even a half baked story with good prose and cover will sell well. There are plenty of stories that are simplistic plot wise but are carried by their prose

Depends really if I made around 2k a month or so with time for a part-time job I might consider it, but that's basically poverty territory. Ideally, I would only consider it at 3-4k a month. Which is about how much I would make if I was gainfully employed in my major.

I don't want to sound crude here, but most people are terrible writers(me included). It's very easy to get discouraged and finding the motivation to write daily is difficult. I'm surprised I made it to 8 months of daily updates before finally going on a short hiatus break.
