The algorythm for getting on trending is related to relative-growth. As in, relative compared to yourself and what your series tends to usually pull in. The specifics are a little unclear, but that factor about relative growth has always remained the same.
That being the case, the one and only relatively stable way to "cheat" the trending system is to go on a hiatus of 1 month or more. Being on hiatus for that much time means the system has tracked your non-posting numbers to be your average. So, when you suddenly come back, it tracks the sudden up-swing of views as an "increase."
This means it is far easier to get onto trending for people just coming back from hiatus. It is the one way to "cheat," but the benefits of cheating by this method are not that great. If anything, it just somewhat makes up for the loss of potential growth you would have gotten anyway just from regular posting. Even then, it would only really break even for a series that has a 1-per-week posting rate.
And, even with all this, it does not work unless you have a large and loyal following that, during your hiatus, will have been eagerly waiting for the next chapter to come out and all jump on it at the same time when you finally do come back.
