    Threads of writing left unshared!

Hm. Its honestly surprising to me that more people don't have this kind of thing. I always have an 'inspiration' doc for every single story full of this kinda thing. I wouldnt say its... 'orphaned' exactly, as its usually fulfilling its intended purpose exactly; giving me a chance to visualize...

    Threads of writing left unshared!

Huh. Ya know, I really thought I wouldnt be the only one. But it seems like a lot of people clicked on the thread and absolutely no-one shared their own. That feels... Weird. Sharing on my own just feels awkward... Well. Whoops, I guess. A classic miscalculation on my part.

    Threads of writing left unshared!

So I just thought of this because of my wanting to share some bits of writing in another thread. I ultimately decided not to since it was only somewhat on topic, and it felt kinda scummy to divert it with what might seem like self promotion. But I got to thinking; I often have bits of writing...

As a reader, what are your favorite blend of tags that make you GO FOR THE BOOK!?

SIBLING SIBLING SIBLING I will never read anything with romance or incest or smut or anything even vaguely approximating that Instead I will read SIBLINGS SIBLINGS ARE CUTE. ok well I dont normally like to self-promote but uhhhhhh ...Yeah, as you can see I really do love writing about...

RANT-Don't rewrite your story that has already progressed too far ?

Rewrites are a fundamental part of writing imo. The only way for me to find out what kind of crippling issues I'll run into with a story is to just try to write it, run into those crippling issues, and then have to go back to the start to rewrite it. I think all but one of my stories has needed...

What gadgets do you usually use to write novels?

Exclusively laptop. I do not understand people who use phones for things like this. Or anything actually. I absolutely loathe using phones and never use them if I can help it. I will write on the desktop sometimes but since I stopped using google docs I've had to pretty much stick to my laptop.

    Any site I can find...

I generally throw mine anywhere I can, though because I try to stay within the ruleset and my stories can be somewhat dire that list is somewhat shorter. Presently its scribblehub, wattpad, storiesonline, and AO3. But I'll probably stop on wattpad soon since it seems like theres no way for...

How do Y'all decide how to make new monsters or races in your fantasy writing?

I have a nice big list for fantasy that I add to as I get inspiration to. I kinda group them up into a few categories and try to flesh out the ones I dont have as many of. Plant monsters, elementals, draconids, ferocious animals, spectral/mana creatures, automata. Most of it ends up coming from...

How long should I go into a story before ceasing posting on a site?

I feel like a lot of people didn't understand what I was asking, based on the number of people who seemed to think I was going to stop writing entirely or cease posting... But as far as the rest of you, thankyou for the answers. It sounds to me like around fifty chapters is pretty much the...

How long should I go into a story before ceasing posting on a site?

Oh, thats just cause that was the specific story I posted today. I'd have said the same thing about Immaculate, to be clear. Actually, Empire of Mercy is way more popular than any of my original works by literally three orders of magnitude... just... ya know, only on the site dedicated to MLP...

How long should I go into a story before ceasing posting on a site?

I mean if I knew what that point was, I wouldn't bother asking. Lots of people talk about only having interest in stories with lots of chapters already, so I generally feel that its worth going some distance in before calling it quits. What that distance is though.... shrugs

How long should I go into a story before ceasing posting on a site?

Just thought I'd get some input. I see a lot of threads kinda like this one talking about quitting writing, but, I'm never going to do that. Even if I'm only writing to show off to my family then I'll keep going. But I do wonder at what point I should call it quits in terms of posting on a site...

What have your favorite reader interactions been?

Theres a couple I could say. All of which are over on fimfiction since nothing I've ever posted outside there has gotten any attention at all. But the one that comes to mind most of all is someone once made a full like, analysis of the first chapter. I've had other people who I thought liked my...

Do you all come up with new names for month and days?

I generally use seasons without months or weeks. So the date is just stated in terms of the season, i.e. 72nd of spring or something. Slightly different from real life. But still pretty easy to understand. Well, also because I just think organizing a calendar exclusively based on the equinoxes...

As an author, how do you feel when you reread your novels?

I'm crazy enough to absolutely adore my own stories. Honestly I usually find myself pleasantly surprised even with the older stuff though it is obviously somewhat more rough than more recent work. I often re-read my stories over and over again and in fact, getting to do so is a big chunk of my...

When did you decide to quit your story, or why do you keep going?

Lacking any response to something you write definitely hurts but its far from the end. I guess I have the benefit of being delusional enough to think my writing is rad as hell, and I love re-reading my own work. So just to have it for myself and my friends is already enough cause as it is. But I...

I have done that, and I found it immensely helpful! The most valuable feedback I have ever received tbh.

Why does modern military firepower not work against monsters and other BS reasonings.

Well if its ideas we're wanting... Then I suppose I can help somewhat. I'll tell you how I do it in my own story, Birthright, since honestly figuring out the details was something I worked on for a while. So, Birthright is a hybrid sci-fi fantasy setting. And it was important to me to make the...

I'm so frustrated trying to figure out how to share my stories

In the actual story, There is a warning. As well as a quick summary in the authors note so that anyone who wants to skip it can still follow along. But if someone reads a chapter in which a rapist is brutally killed in the attempt and described as a 'slavering beast' and 'vile creature' to the...

Why does modern military firepower not work against monsters and other BS reasonings.

So you want a reason... But are going to dismiss any reason given as invalid? Just don't read or watch things with monsters and guns in them if it bugs you that much. Having cool fantasy stuff always die immediately to bullets would be lame as hell.
