After freeing them, they hide it by putting up decorations and food around the town to say the civilians had a really great party with drugs and alcohol.

He knows when I am active; he knows my allegiance, he can sneak into my house unnoticed, he has magic. Has a labor force. Isolated. Does not give me what I want. Likes children. Feeds on sweets. Are we sure he's a good guy? I say we take him down.
Just use good old-fashioned crime solving skills. No magic or super tech to solve the case. No violence until they solve the case.
They are forced to have a partner.
How would you write their experience? This is basically another bonding moment where they grow closer. Do I describe what happens during the concert like dance or nod to the rhythm?
What makes a character strong? Is because they can punch a brick wall? More stamina? Keep their resolve through a harsh environment? Pride? Self-worth? Can handle the worst food ever created?
