What do you think of people posting their novels in your profile page?

I'd just delete the comment and be done with it. No need to cause excess drama. I doubt the person will even return to look.

    The Chicken Pen (Feedback Thread)

Understand, I'm not trying to be mean in the least. I know how hard it is to share your ideas with the public. It opens yourself up to huge criticism that none of us really like. I just know that since I'm not the typical reader of your genre, it was very hard to put the puzzle together so it...

    The Chicken Pen (Feedback Thread)

I took a chance and popped open the first chapter. What follows is not an adventure I want to repeat. It opens with a contradiction. Darkness kills everything. Even the light, but one flame flickered. That almost made me stop reading there. How am I to understand this if it doesn't gel in the...

    The Chicken Pen (Feedback Thread)

Just keep in mind that according to The Literary Project, that the average reading level is about 8th grade of ability. While you are the author and free to do what you want, the more complex you make the work, the less people will comprehend and frankly stop reading. There is a level of detail...

How to get a novel cover art for free

It's all about the prompts. It will take like 10 minutes for you to get the gist on how to use it. Both my covers are AI. I have to thank Envy for showing me the AI art generator.

    So as a fellow author

    1) I've always loved creative writing. I've done it since I was a teenager. while I might not have finished many stories, I still have all the notebooks I used. 2) Vampires are just awesome. 3) I started out with mystery writing and romantic vampires is my thing now. Will I move again? No...

    The Chicken Pen (Feedback Thread)

I took a look as well, but only chapter 1. The chicks went over lots in their response, so my reflections will be more a "heads up" than anything. 1. First and second paragraphs are virtually the same meaning. You are all in on the island and how he feels. Maybe combine the two into...

Mystery was written off as bad writing.

I think my first step would to be tag the story as a mystery. That way there's no confusion and people can see that there will be elements that they just won't understand yet. Secondary, the opening sequence should give the reader something to come back and read. It doesn't have to be much...

    I have been finally poached.

Given my entire series is on Microsoft Word, that makes it 100% digital. So me owning the copyright that's non-digital means I don't own it. What a crock of crap. Thanks for sharing the email

I'm curious, what writing software do you (yes I mean you specially) use?

Microsoft Word and Google docs. I outline in word. My choices are easy. I'm used to MS Word, since that's what I used all through college and Google docs to have it backed up on a cloud or to give a link so friends can read what I've done.

What do you look for in Online Games?

Let me tell you, I feel that. I've got arthritis as well. Most fast paced games like Mortal Kombat are just so intense my hands will hurt.

What do you look for in Online Games?

I'm one of the few holdouts from Wow, mainly because I have a ton of time invested. I started that game because I initially liked the story and the gameplay. It was easy to pick up and fun. These days, I guess it's more habit. I have drifted to games like Subnautica, since these games are...

Writing When is it too much or too little words?

I changed my planning from my first book to my more recent one. In my first, I didn't really have an upper limit - I wrote a chapter until I felt it was complete - the longest coming in at 16k My second book, I am trying my best to keep between 7-9k Now when I upload, I break them into easy to...

Chapter names or no chapter names?

I have named every chapter of mine. I like the idea that it gives a minor hint into what I am thinking about as I write the chapter. I mean I use numbers as well, that is great for organizing them overall and certainly helps when outlining a few chapters ahead - so the number system is - at...

    Editing

I am fortunate enough that I have two lovely editors that I get to argue with all the time. They volunteered to do it. While I can edit my own works, I catch the really grievous things and miss the smaller edits. Between the both of them, they get most everything so I am content to post when I...

    The Chicken Pen (Feedback Thread)

Highlighted is the main reason I love participating in the thread. The chicks aren't threatened by the want to assist or add to the public forum. So thank you, once again, for allowing me to hangout and add things when I can. Much better story this time around. I have a personal quibble with...

    Feedback on my Introduction

If it were me since the whole thing is before she dies, I'd go with something like : unnerving silence or the like. If you want, just using silence works as well. It's about what you want to convey :)

    Feedback on my Introduction

What you have highlighted is just fine without the caps. If anything use it very sparingly if you do use all caps. Mainly because it's pulls the reader from anything else you've written. I'd also pull the extra exclamation points. One is you you need for it. It's better to write out the...

    Side Stories?

To me a side story is a story that rather just pops in your head while writing your main story and plot. It really doesn't seem to fit in your current narrative. This doesn't mean they aren't important in their own way, or you'd not had the thought in the first place. It can be any...
