Writing How about writing up a backlog of chapters before posting?

My backlog is still a rough draft in the local language. I don't save it to SH unless I've translated and edited it thoroughly.

Have you ever sat on a novel idea too long and now it became stale because someone else wrote it?

My ideas are born from subversive tropes. So I tend to avoid mainstream fiction, even if it means becoming unpopular. For example, my characters tend to be unromantic, but rather have warm, familial relationships. Because I dislike clichéd romantic fantasy.

First-Time Author Looking for Honest Feedback ?

I didn't read it. Honestly, the format (especially chapter 1) causes eye pain. You should provide a reader-friendly format. Some of my suggestions: 1. Break up giant paragraphs into smaller ones with a maximum of 3 sentences per paragraph. 2. Separate dialogue from description/exposition. 3...

What are your thoughts on narrative protagonists and main protagonists in fiction?

Narrative Protagonists and Main Protagonists in the Fiction Sometimes authors don't use the main protagonist's POV as the reader's lens, but rather use another character's POV as the reader's lens to understand the story's conflict. In this case, I differentiate between the main protagonist and...

The Commoditization of Creativity *Ghost Writing Farms*

Wow... the practice of ghostwriting for fiction. I've never heard of this kind of practice. I knew there were ghostwriters for scientific research, and I even knew a professor who used the services of a ghostwriter to write his dissertation (who was eventually exposed and stripped of his...

    Tragedy flag usage?

If your story focuses on tragedy, then give it the tragedy genre. However, if the tragedy only serves as a setting for the characters, then simply tag it with a tragic past.

Looking for feedback on first chapter

I skimmed through it. Your novel is more like a death game, a common anime or manhwa I've read. Honestly, I don't really like the premise of death games and such. So I didn't continue, as it wasn't my preference. But overall, your writing is quite good, especially since the formatting is easy to...

    Should I continue writing?

If you enjoy writing, write what's on your mind. If you're tired, take a break or take a vacation. And you can continue writing anytime.

Say, how would you write a divine being that is fond of a certain human?

You don't define "fond of" as romantic love. I define "fond of" as loving in an extreme way. Furthermore, supernatural entities (or divine beings in your understanding) aren't human, so it doesn't make narrative sense to define "fond of" as a human loving another human. And if you're trying to...

Say, how would you write a divine being that is fond of a certain human?

In my novel, there are entities called "disaster princesses", not goddesses or divine beings, but more like supernatural beings who rose in response to collective trauma. They are called 'disasters' because their presence shakes the world's power structure. And the label 'princesses' is attached...

New writer, how does anyone get readers here?

It depends on how you define chapter 1. If it's a prologue (as I consider it): 600 words - 1,500 words is my recommended amount. Don't write 4,000 words; new readers rarely can endure a prologue that long for a new novel. For comparison, a normal chapter is recommended to have at least 1,500...

New writer, how does anyone get readers here?

I've read prologues with 4K words that provide info dumps that new readers don't even understand why they should 'care'? Or conversely, short prologues that only provide a glimpse of the scene (usually an epic battle). Well, people are free to make any kind of prologue, but again. If the...

New writer, how does anyone get readers here?

I don't understand why people differentiate between prologue and chapter 1? For me, prologue is chapter 1. Prologue is not just a promotional tool, but in my view, prologue is a moral premise that represents an arc. If a novel (series) is divided into several arcs, then each arc has its own...

New writer, how does anyone get readers here?

I've answered this question many times. To get new readers: Show a visually appealing cover - anime/light novel style is recommended with 1 waifutable character. Create a synopsis that answers the moral premise of your story briefly, clearly and captivatingly. Narrate a prologue that has a...

    Painful realization

Yes, you are evil because you sympathize with the criminal and torture the victim, especially if the victim is a teenage girl, and your reason for not liking lazy people is really unreasonable because you designed the character.
