How does your protagonist achieve peace?

Peace in Fiction Achieving peace has become a cliché motivation in mainstream fiction. For example, in isekai fiction, the protagonist defeating the demon king is considered a quick way to achieve world peace. In superhero fiction... the demon king is replaced by a supervillain. Some dark...

How is this for a blurb/synopsis?

Does it deliver the hook well? Well, I'm quite curious about how Tobias will hide the mysterious woman. And yes, the synopsis has a hook. How well does it set the stage? If I ignore the 1st and 2nd paragraphs, I can vaguely imagine the direction of the story and the tension. How well did I...

How is this for a blurb/synopsis?

Honestly... I enjoyed it more and was more likely to imagine the direction of the story if the synopsis started from 3rd paragraph . 1st and 2nd Paragraph felt more like info dumps that casual readers tend to ignore.

    Writing When is head-hopping head-hopping?

Well, when the reader is confused about which character is speaking in a scene, that is a sign of head hopping, a sudden shift in POV without transition, making it difficult for the reader to identify who is speaking, thinking, and feeling. Head hopping generally occurs due to poor narrative...

Silent acceptance or vocal criticism--Which is better?

Well, ultimately, you decide your story. One of my readers also made a similar comment. He said he wanted to see more FMC because my chapters provided a lot of character development for the supporting characters. I explained to him... that's impossible unless it ruins the flow of the story...

Silent acceptance or vocal criticism--Which is better?

If that's the case, this could be considered constructive feedback about pacing. You might consider making a compromise to accept their suggestion, such as shortening the flashback.

Silent acceptance or vocal criticism--Which is better?

Casual readers generally just say what they like or dislike based on their tastes. It's very rare for readers to give constructive feedback like the pacing in this paragraph is slow, head-hopping in this conversation, plot holes in this chapter, etc, because casual readers generally just read...

When you write a narrative, you tend to write "what happened this chapter?" When you edit a chapter, you tend to read, analyze, refine and rewrite, "how do the scenes in this chapter provide a good reading experience for the reader?"

Mutual reviews for web novel authors

First, post this thread in the feedback section. SH has a dedicated feedback sub-forum there. Second, I'm not forbidding you for review swaps or mutual reviews... but I won't. I prefer voluntary feedback to transactional feedback. Third, I hope this doesn't happen here. But swap reviews are...

Foreign enemies will make you raise your weapons, but internal enemies born of systemic failure will make you stare at your wounds. That's why Pain is so painful yet. Its philosophy about the cycle of hatred, the legacy of sin, and wounds is truly real.

It makes sense why Pain was considered the peak arc. Instead of positioning Pain as a foreign enemy... the author instead made Pain Jiraya's student, a victim of war, and a senior (to Naruto). The conflict isn't just epic and ideological, but also intimate and emotional. Readers may disagree...

Is 5k words too much for the first chapter?

Honestly... as an author, I'd say, "Write as much as you want!" But as a casual reader with a limited attention span, I'd say, "5K words for a prologue?! That's a lot... do I have to read this much before I find something that interests me?! No, thank you."
