The same can be said about any other genre there is. Countless retelling of anything would be boring, as would xianxia or Harry Potter or Eragon. Just because bad authors write bad stories about xianxia doesn't mean that xianxia is inherently a creatively exhausted genre.

Be realistic. A brutal world where everyone is cynical is great, but when everything is unnecessarily edgy it'll become grimderp real fast. People like dark because they give another side of the world instead of the unrealistic ideal sunshine, so if you dive deep into the unrealistic shithole...

Ah, I see. If that is the case, I'll have to choose the star rating instead of the like-dislike system. I would pretty much prefer some nuanced indication of quality more than just I like it and I don't like it. I'm not a fan of like/dislike because it allowed too much bias.

Except that star rating gives options for making it known that the story is meh. In the like-dislike system there is simply no option for not great not terrible. If the readers didn't rate then it's the fault of the readers and not the fault of the system.

I don't understand why people say "if it's meh then don't vote" as an argument for the dislike-like system. What if the story is meh? No rating for them? Does this mean the story is meh or no one read them?
