The elders need to stick together so the kids don't come and start gnawing on our bones.

What are your favorite, least favorite, and underutilized words?

My least favorite now is "amplitude" because I must have heard it about 100 times today watching the Winter Olympics freestyle skiing finals. I'm serious, if someone had suggested you take a drink every time the sportscaster said "amplitude", they would be wheeling your sodden, stinking corpse...

    Number 1 on Treading

Personally I think one must be born and bread to become a baker. Not me, I dread making bread. I never spread out my ingredients correctly, I don't use enough of my head, no matter what they said, and feel miss-led. After all the proofing, kneading, and baking, I just don;t have enough cred...

Warning to all Authors, do not fall victim to "professional editors."

I had to be REALLY careful with that, yes. Not everyone is going to write like I do, so it's hard sometimes to "pull away" from me, and look at things from their side, their styles. But I never really thought it was wrong, just different. *^^*

Warning to all Authors, do not fall victim to "professional editors."

It really isn't even that. The problem authors have, including me, is we don't like to have our work questioned or criticized. As an editor, that was my job, to hunt for what wasn't working and provide advice and ideas for fixing things. And I felt terrible sometimes if I ran into a book that...

Warning to all Authors, do not fall victim to "professional editors."

Writer. I had to deal with too many authors with very fragile egos. I couldn't change anything that would hurt their deathless prose. I was never right, and always wrong. I just got sick of it after a while. I much prefer writing now.

Warning to all Authors, do not fall victim to "professional editors."

A professional editor isn't going to contact you. Period. Full stop. If you need a professional editor, find one on your own, reputable, with affordable prices. I was an editor in the early 2000s. I never cold-called anyone, emailed anyone, or anything like that. I simply had the usual ads in...

You really don't offer a very good case for your writing skills when you mistake "treading" and "trending". Or was that just autocorrect being a bitch to you? ?

What are yall doing for Valentine's?

Every year I try harder to understand this holiday called Valentine's Day. For us who are still a "single", fight to achieve love in their own lives, or who have sworn off relationships for life, it can be a really difficult holiday. And the holiday doesn't really express our struggles or life...

    Writing Prompt the chosen idiot

The Spirit of the Lake watched as the newcomer approached and cleared her throat. "I, um, offered him the sword with which he could rule. But, mortals cannot always handle the stress of being a ruler." She pointed to the corpse. "Sadly, this one has taken his own life." The retainer gasped...

What would you do if your story became insanely popular?

I would feel obligated to write more and faster, and the problem is it's not something I'm capable of. I have my own pace, my own time, and readers would just have to accept that. I think most readers do accept when an author has to take a break or slow down. You'll get one or two voracious fans...
