How to properly develop soft magic.

As with anything else, the focus must be the story. Hard magic systems are great - they have mechanics, and they have effects on their environment, and exploration of these magic systems can propel the story onward. A very good Hard Magic System (HMS) will take the plot and mix it up, showing...

wiki-like fan made page for novels.

It is really up to the fans of the series to create a wiki. Or do you mean a feature that the author can update?

Secret ingredient on creating a badass character?

Give them a backstory full of pain. Really drag them across the five circles of hell. Show their internal struggles. Characters who overcome that feel Badass. As an example - Jiraiya from Naruto.

    Preference when writing?

I just use a laptop. I don't think I can write outside. I've tried writing on the phone but I just can't - it doesn't feel natural. There are novels I have written using Ink and Paper. I actually love doing that. It gives a sort of immersion and immediacy that no other medium can attain. I love...

What is a dream? And how can answering that improve your writing?

A classic good series where it is used in an interesting way is The Wheel of Time. Dream walking. Uh, no. Your brain is doing maintenance while you're sleeping. So, it is not trying to fetch memories, just fetching memories in the process. Which is usually why the assumption that dreams "mean"...

What is a dream? And how can answering that improve your writing?

Dreams are just random neurons firing in your head while you sleep. Why you remember some dreams more than others is a more complex question. I do not put much stock in them. As far as how Dreams relate to writing - well, I don't think they do. Other art forms might - certainly Dali used his...

Writing Prompt Create a Story Where the Hero Dies, But Still Saves the Day

Like what Hamlet is about? About a guy who can't make up his damned mind and how that leads to a tragedy. The tragedy being the deaths.

Writing How to Create Life-like emotions.

Was not the intention. You have to learn from the masters. Literary theory actually teaches jackshit about writing, but if we take a look at examples there, there is much to learn about how reality and themes of reality are represented in fiction. My point was to show that not even the "Great...

Writing How to Create Life-like emotions.

The short answer is practice. Try writing short stories. Take a scenario, work on it. Read it. If you are satisfied, as in you have good grasp of the emotions of you character, and have learned to put them down on text, you are good. The Long Answer is ... some literary theory? Most writing...

Editing What is the best way to write a good synopsis?

LMAO That is just an excellent advice. I always think great stories have great synopses. The problem is writing one when your story isn't complete. But, I think this is a way to avoid divulging to much. It really is quite the art to do so within even the first 30 words.
