I don't get this part. they're both fantasy. isekai just means someone went to a different world, but it's all under the umbrella of fantasy. So you're saying the characters never went to the other world and it was just a fantasy story? in that case the author should have never tagged it isekai.

it's interesting because a lot of those spectral characters we see have organic shapes. So when it comes to, say ghostface ghost mask killer, or those specters that seem to be in robes.. I won't say they're attractive but the organicness of their shape doesn't repel me.. If you get what I mean...

yeah the Russians translated one of my novels as well, and their version actually has comments and stuff ^_^ my one beef is that they could not translate one of the teacher's names which was Miss sandstrom.... in their translated version they called her Miss sandstorm -_-

plot vs romance... I guess could be a thing but in my view you have to have the human condition in the story. there has to be character development/interaction, it can't just be plot. plot means the character is constantly moving from place to place and doing things. But for a story to resonate...
