Oh, Warhammer 40k elves... Or so I gather as an outsider. You're biased by your puny human perspective. MOST magical creatures live past 300 years. Usually much, much longer. It's humans that are weird and weak for reasons that just plain old don't make sense.

The wiki entry mentioned multiple times that older women are typically portrayed as villains in magical girl anime. The 'inevitable' loss of innocence that comes with aging. So, if you live long enough to become the villain, you'll see- wait, I think I messed it up.

Evolving the old unit will make sure that it never appears again, and makes it easier to get further upgrades in the future. ... Don't play gatcha games though.

Do they even live long enough to get dismantled? The only thing I know about the lore of those types of games is that they're constantly fighting and dying (except for your girls with their plot armor).

Wiki says that one of the inspirations for one of the first magical girl shows was Bewitched. Similar shows would be Sabrina the Teenage Witch or Charmed. Those shows have 'magical girls', but the focus is more on their lives than on their jobs/witchy stuff. I don't think its wrong to look at...

If they either like their new form, or get to go back to being human, I'm fine with it. Considering how narrow the niche is, there's probably too many of these books in my reading list, so... I guess I rather like it. Maybe because it gets rid of the usual 'nerfs' that authors give their isekai...

The general consensus is ~2k words per chapter. That said, it doesn't matter at all. (Actually I haven't checked in a while. Hopefully the number hasn't changed since I last checked.)
