Writing Economy for a fantasy novel

I already broke it down over on this thread: https://forum.scribblehub.com/threads/i-think-there-is-a-hole-in-my-world-building.21112/#post-481106 Here's the quote: In short, Consider what the kingdom provides, both to the world and to its citizens. The most important factor when creating an...

    Comedic or Serious?

here's the key, my friend: Writing is like cooking. You can't cook with only one flavor. If everything is sweet with no hint of salty, umami, bitter or sour, it'll get old REALLY fast. You need a mix of the lot of them. Not all in one dish, obviously, but a little sweet and spicy in one dish...

    Author Preferences: Show or Tell

"Show, don't tell" Is horrible advice. Don't get me wrong, the meaning behind it is good. But the advice itself is terrible. My usual example of this is a weapons shop. "You enter a shop with a crossed knife and sword above its door. Inside, there are racks and shelves and walls full of various...

I think there is a hole in my world building

And this is why I keep it simple. multiples of 100 for me, and I use the standard (maybe boring by this point) silver/gold, with a low quality metal as the first step (usually copper or bronze, but I've also used Iron, because the empire was known for iron and had a major surplus). Further, I...

Is plot armor actually that bad?

I absolutely love this. Events in real life would, if written into a story, seem like plot armor. I've survived 9 different near-death experiences, 7 of those would indeed seem like plot armor if written into a story. But yeah, I get your point.

Trading The Secrets of The Trending Page For A Girlfriend

I believe there exists an inverse correlation between the time spent single and the more appealing a given option appears. Maybe another 2-3 years and femboys will be appealing? At least the genuine traps.

Is plot armor actually that bad?

lol oh for sure. IT's not JUST about the MC. My point was that having a story that's specifically about the plot armor can work, as long as there are other risks.

Is plot armor actually that bad?

It's not always unsatisfying. LotR, at the end when Frodo is facing the greatest challenge thus far - climbing the mountain, Sam carries him up. It was unexpected but no less heartfelt, despite frodo himself not being the one to overcome it. Or when they're in Shelob's lair and Sam bursts out of...

Is plot armor actually that bad?

It could actually be an interesting exercise to write a story where the MC doesn't have plot armor. They die when they should, then the story jumps to a different MC... kinda like Piers Anthony's Xanth series, but switching MCs mid book, rather than between books.

Is plot armor actually that bad?

it's just a complaint i've seen repeatedly. most recently was shortly before I made the post on another site. Like you say, EVERY MC has plot armor. even just by luck, a real person would likely die even mundane dangers that MCs survive. but the story can't go on without them. Imagine if Harry...

Is plot armor actually that bad?

Basically the title. Is plot armor actually as bad as people make it seem? I don't mean trillion-to-one plot armor, but common plot armor. Someone escaping a battle by the skin of his teeth because he's the main character while 95% of the rest of the army died. This sort of thing. Hacksaw...

    Jobs...

good luck on that. Getting into any arts scene is horrendously difficult. That said, it CAN be done. Just... not easily. I look forward to seeing your works on shelves! Also (forgive the horrible pronunciation, but...) "Ich lerne Deutsch. Deutsch is serh schonn! Ich liebe Deutsch!!"

    How unknown is unknown enough?

he doesn't have any movies, so I wouldn't know if he's "obscure" or not. that said, a single word cannot be trademarked or copyrighted. as long as your character doesn't look, think, or act like the aforementioned Vanguard, it doesn't really matter. Like Thor. I can write a norse god named Thor...

    Any requests?

Any requests, folks? I've got two girls To work with (and a guy, but he looks kinda... meh. HS2 kinda sucks for that). I'm not doing anything paid and I'm not doing NSFW requests. They should be postable here. So, any ideas? I'll try as best I can. Trying to learn the systems for the studio, so...

Return of one of the best Otome game novels you have ever read

I got lucky with Burnice. Got her with just the free in-game polys. Missed Zhu Yuan, but I'll get her on her next cycle through. I'm buckling down to try and get lighter recently, though I may end up needing to toss some cash once Miyabi's cycle starts. I WONT miss the cute fox girl...

In possession of Lost Chapters, what to do?

I hadn't read that before. I was going from the standard procedure on most sites, along with what I've personally seen here. but that is subtly different than most.

Return of one of the best Otome game novels you have ever read

welcome back. ZZZ is honestly the best game! Haven't spent any cash, yet, but I'm hooked and have been for months now! Nekomata and Yanagi are easily my favorites!!

In possession of Lost Chapters, what to do?

I want to clarify, from what I've seen, Tony does a pretty good job of checking into copyrights claims. If OP posts the lost chapters under the same title with a link to them (and possibly a review/comment on the original to inform readers), then it comes down to the original author to file a...

    Villainous protagonist!

not sure if its what you're looking for, but from what I've heard, The Saga of Tanya the Evil has overall decent reviews with a fairly evil protag. I don't know much about it, really. Its been on my list to watch for a while, but you might be able to find a web/lite novel somewhere.

    Flanderization.

I've done this a time or two, when a character doesn't need any specific growth. It's tough to do it just right that the character can be annoying but still likable
