    Reader Subcultures

Sadly, it's come to that point. I think it's also a reflection of Japanese society. A lot of men have become solitary and even refuse to leave their homes. To quote: The 'lackluster' MC is a form of escapism for a lot of readers. It's quite an alarming social issue, actually. Which makes it...

Early Resolutions for 2020 (A troll thread)

If you want to be a troll, go ahead. Just thought I'd start early with a New Year's resolution thread. Just a disclaimer, I always fail my resolutions but, who cares? If you want to seriously share your 2020 resolutions, go ahead! If you want to share something vague, have at it! Might as well...

    Reader Subcultures

Subcultures? A lot are out there but I just wanted to point out something about this. Personally, I think the reason why more readers now prefer a forward, dominant MC is because Japanese novels are inundated by useless and lackluster MCs. It's a pain and a bore so, unless written well, I as a...

    Seasonal Food!!!!!

An assortment of fruits (usually pineapple, peach, grapes, apple, cherries), condensed milk, and all-purpose cream. Mix together then refrigerate. You could either choose to have it just chilled so it's somewhat juicy. Or, you could have it frozen and somewhat of an ice-cream delicacy.

Finding people's series through the forums

In the same vein, it would be nice to have an icon next to a name to indicate if they're authors. Honestly, in the forums, it would be a nice exposure since it would be tempting to check out what someone has written outside of the forums.

    Seasonal Food!!!!!

It's Christmas soon and I was wondering what it's like in your part of the world. What types of food do you have to celebrate the holiday (if you do so anyway). Do you have dinner (meal) traditions? In my country, we have what we call the Nochebuena. This tradition has Spanish origins and it...

The White bellbird has the loudest bird call - reaching the same volume as a pneumatic drill. Personally, I think it sounds like an apocalyptic level alarm. I could imagine the Spanish conquistadors pissing their pants hearing this for the first time.

@BenJepheneT Hahaha naah. I wish I could but I don't know that many unique animals. However, I might post something today since I did come across one that was odd looking.

What lead you to this point?

Pretty straightforward how I got here. Saw a link to SH and voila! I'm here. The bigger issue is how I got to NU since, prior to NU, I didn't have anything to do with Asian novels. Forgot what anime it was but it was based from a novel and tried googling it to read about a synopsis about the...

    Down with discord!

My main issue with SHF right now is the downtime. Not sure about the distribution of users around the world but daytime my time is a downer. That's GMT +8. I'm not worried about it that much though. I still remember when a busy day here meant 600+ online at most. It's slowly getting more active...

    World Hopping Genre

Yeah, that's actually the daunting part. If ever I end up writing in this genre, I'd definitely just steal names from random novels and hope for the best. h

    World Hopping Genre

For starters, I find this genre fascinating. So much so that someday, I hope I'll be able to write a version of my own. I've read a few and the potential of writing short arcs with different genres and complications sound so fun. Restarting with a different plot seems refreshing somehow. For...

    Implemented Story relationships

'Adapted from' usually means you're writing something in your own way based on resources stemming from another story or stories. So, technically, it's not in the same world. It's a whole different story but with similar elements from another story you saw before. However, in regards to film...

Bearded Vultures are most commonly monogamous, and breed once a year. Sometimes, especially in certain areas of Spain and France, bachelor lammergeiers will join a pre-existing couple to create a polyandrous trio. Females accept secondary mates as it increases the chances of producing offspring...

The lammergeier (or bearded vulture) is a scavenger; after finding a picked-over carcass, the bird will drop it from a tremendous height to shatter it into swallow-able pieces. Bearded vultures even have favorite breaking spots that are ominously called ossuaries. --- I am loving these...
