    AI Covers

Had to do some weird ML/AI stuff for work and we arrived at the idea of generated covers. And luckily the internet has already done it: https://neuralblender.com/ Be amazed of my new cover (The Lone Macaw): So time to go over the trending list (they are clearly doing something wrong...

    My novel covers keep disappearing

Discord isn't a hoster and they have the rights to remove stuff at any time for no reasons. And they'll do that in certain situations just to save money. Just use an imagehoster like imgur.

How do you guys go about changing character names ? I want to rename some characters but i m torn .

Just drop that story, delete it, wait for a month and re-publish it in a month with new names. And you just gained a massive backlog :D

    Anime Big Three

There are no "Big 3" anymore. And it's stupid that people try to do this based on likes/dislikes. The Big 3 are long-running series who dominated the anime industry and opened the door to the west. We don't have that situation right now and we also don't have such long-running series anymore...

    Giving extras names

Depends. My named characters are those who will fulfill some role in the story. Even if it is just to die after 5 chapters. Those who appear and disappear don't have a name, though they are normally background characters anyway and don't have any big impact. Instead, I try to focus the impact on...

Writing [Tutorial] Plot Devices: Deus Ex Machina, Chekhov's Gun & Foreshadowing

I would want for them to be more precise :blob_cookie: Honestly, one of the reasons I like Story Grid so much is that - despite things I agree or disagree with - they start with the goal of creating a common language for writers first so that every term is clear. If your definition is different...

Writing [Tutorial] Plot Devices: Deus Ex Machina, Chekhov's Gun & Foreshadowing

But Murphy's Law isn't about stuff being unpredictable. Murphy's Law simply states that things that can go wrong will go wrong. So in it's core it's rather predictable. In fact, the reason it is predictable is why it is used in modern programming and algorithm design. My big problem with this...

Writing [Tutorial] Plotting: The Murphy's Law Method

Reminds me of that one CN webnovel which name I can't remember because I dropped it and webnovel killed my account. Started kinda cool with a struggle in a medieval world. Ended with the MC not being able to cross the street without getting into another massive problems with literally none of...

Writing [Tutorial] Plotting: The Murphy's Law Method

I have to disagree with your take in some points - though mostly (as always) based in semantics. The question shouldn't be "What is the worst thing that can happen?" all the time. Because while that can work for some stories, it'll also give a much bigger problem: you have to escalate the...

Looking to make a story into a webcomic (2)

Honestly, you shouldn't go looking for a story here that you might turn into a webcomic. Webcomics have their own flow through chapters and should be written differently. Also: there are like a million things missing. Genres, theme, amount of chapters you plan to do, etc. And stuff like...

What is the worst criticism you have received?

Honestly, to me it's those who are harsh and wrong. If they are true, I can take it and see whether it's a problem with the story or if my writing just isn't for that reader. But I also have reviews out there who say stuff that simply isn't true or where the reader didn't understand the point...

    Scared of Dropped reader option

The drop statistic of a story is only created through people who put your story on a reading list marked "dropped". Most likely to filter your story out or remember it as "not for them". Honestly, those are only a handful of people. The majority of people who'll drop your story (or have long...

    Writing as a Job

No. Not unless I stumble over a lucky success story. Going for a writing career is too depressing if I want to keep my living standards... Best case scenario, it might become a nice side-job that brings in some money from time to time. But that's it...

The absolute state of Scribble Hub

And SH also gives one the option to completely remove throw those genres out of the last releases. Which is great if you do it as a hobby. But a lot of writers dream of (a bit of) success. And for that, it becomes a really hard dance between "writing what you like" and "writing what might...

The absolute state of Scribble Hub

Successful things will always be copied. Whether it's webnovels or published novels. Like the endless flood of Twilight/Hunger Games/etc clones in YA. Or the one millionth LOTR copy in fantasy. People are writing towards a target audience. And a big part of that group wants to read "more of the...

The absolute state of Scribble Hub

I was mostly talking about diversity because the meaning of "quality" differs for readers. For quality, I would say that RR is generally a step above SH if we look at story telling because the audience is less forgiving. But for diversity? Looking at their frontpage rising stars: all seven of...
