As an author, what is your take on 'reviews'?

To answer the OP of the thread: reviews are meh. Positive reviews, negative reviews - they're all the same to me. They're just people's opinions. When I get a positive review, it tells me that somebody liked the story. Yay. This might boost my mood if I'm in a bad one and inspire me to write...

How to describe an outfit? (Lesson with Ace_Arriande)

As a fellow author who regularly hires artists, the details I gave for my last commission: "Yeah I have no idea, I just need an underwater-y princess-y type of girl, feel free to go wild and do whatever you think will look best." That was all. Literally. Result, which I'm 100000% happy with and...

How to describe an outfit? (Lesson with Ace_Arriande)

:blob_salute: (for real tho even if it's shitposting i think it's best to give artists as much creative freedom as possible because they're the artists who know how to make good designs, not me)

Average time to finish a chapter.

More important than writing speed is writing at all. If you're managing to consistently write any story, you're already doing better than 99% of people who want to write. I also like to remind people of this. Many famous authors would take a whole day just to get down 500 - 1,000 words.

Average time to finish a chapter.

Most people, from all the conversations I've had with my own readers and those on SH/RR Discord servers, will read a 1,000-word chapter in about 3-4 minutes at most. 3k-5k word chapters are usually finished in about 10-15 minutes at most. Also worth considering: the average reading speed is...

    Scribbler vs Author

Scribblers unironically better don't @ me it will forever me one of my greatest regrets to have not known about this poll before it was closed

    Seeing Improvement after 200K+ Words.

You take cringe and turn it into something that's positive, which is great. Cringe is a much more negative thing to me. Then again, I might be biased since I have an extremely high tolerance for cringe. I pretty much only cringe at things that are physically painful. You know, like somebody...

    Seeing Improvement after 200K+ Words.

To each their own. I personally never cringe at anything I've written before but still recognize the faults, and there are many faults. I love to reread my earliest chapters and have nothing short of a great time rereading them. However, I still notice errors that I never noticed before, would...

    Seeing Improvement after 200K+ Words.

While it's pretty normalized to cringe at your past works as a sign of improvement, try not to be too hard on yourself. You can improve with a healthy mindset without having to cringe at your old stuff. Recognize the flaws and think on how you would improve on them, but there's no need to put...

    What's your WPM?

Since Alv told me to, Here are my results. Now, just as a disclaimer, this is when copy-typing. When I'm just casusally chatting or rambling or something without copying specific words, I'm probably at around 100 or so. When I'm writing, you can probably knock me down to about 60-80 when I...

Add the "Arc Category" for separating group of chapters to make it easily identifiable.

I don't necessarily think this should be added for arcs, but I would absolutely support something being added to split chapters up into books/volumes.

    Adaptation to your Story

Realistically, a visual novel. I've had a few dedicated readers say they'd make great anime, but I don't really agree with them. It doesn't help that I basically already write all my stuff in a visual novel format in the first place: tons of dialogue and very few descriptions. Though, I'd also...

    Add Interaction with Reviews

Apologies for the delay, had to finish my daily writing. That's perfectly fair. Though, the whole "platform vs publisher" thing simply doesn't matter to most people. Don't get me wrong, I agree with the stance. The behavior of people on a platform should not reflect on the platform itself...

    Add Interaction with Reviews

Now, this is something that I 100% agree with. I believe in the right to do absolutely whatever you want with your business. However, Scribble Hub isn't your business, and this suggestion is something that affects the entirety of SH rather than only your business. If this purely affected your...

Popularity doesn't matter in terms of quality.

Maybe people don't care about it being relatable because they want to escape the boring greys of reality for something that makes them feel good instead? I mean, don't get me wrong. It's perfectly alright if you don't like these stories, but it's pretty silly to imply that anybody with a "decent...

Is Mult-posting your story good? Or bad?

Yeah, the more sites you post on, the more you have to interact with - or well, the more you should be interacting with. Just... disregard the fact that I haven't replied to comments anywhere for like 2 months now. But more seriously, people need to be careful about how many websites they post...

    Add Interaction with Reviews

We've all been there at one point or another. Back when I used to lurk in RR's authors-only channel, there were concerns about this about a dozen times a week, especially from newer authors or authors who are only just hitting Trending. But, it was almost always legitimate. Now, the cases where...

    Add Interaction with Reviews

Man, I am really disappointed. You can see the exact quote in my original post when I quoted Rellawing on this. I even admitted to it being my fault for not making it clear because I was genuinely interested in this topic with you and didn't want to let that ruin it, and this is how you respond...
