Any time I've tried this, the story gets deleted :( But the only thing I really look for is if it looks like the author intense to see the story to the end. That can mean any number of chapters, but it's mostly about the plot having a direction and progress actually being made on it.

I agree that the writing is great, but disagree with your advice on using passice voice. Active voice packs a lot more punch amd gets straight to the point, which keeps readers engaged. I mean, I sure was as I read through it! But i agree that the narration could use that additional emotion...

One thing I've heard is that, whether or not you'll make a change, you'll still be 30-something whether or not you do it. So it really is never too late to make a change if you want to. It's easy for me to say, but finish that degree and find a job that pays well with decent hours that you enjoy!

Depends on the request. If it's good writing advice, then I try to keep it in mind. If it's about the direction they want the story taken in, then I usually ignore.

I feel the exact same! I figured that being the author and knowing what will happen spoils what a lot of people will find to be fun, but it's hard for me to tell what parts of the story that applies to. Or how to tell if they'd be fun if I didn't know it already.

I'm feeling the same way! It takes way longer to write anything now for me, but it's so much better!

I've loved the Dresden Files series, especially after book 2/3, but Dead Beat (book 7) holds a special place in my heart as pretty much perfect! That and Changes, but that one's a special case.

Sounds like a world ruled by rule of cool and the plot. Borne of Desire, a really good pokemon fanfic, has this and the main character explores how he can best make use of it.
