Could there be an drop/exit interview?

I had someone on another platform add my books to a reading list once, they called it Not My Cup of Tea. They were using the list to filter out books they didn’t want to read. So I can see where that would happen.

Do you put your own stories in your own reading lists?

When I first joined I accidentally added my own book to my reading list. I couldn’t figure out how to undo it, so I just left it. ? I hadn’t used SH before and hadn’t yet found the forums, so I wasn’t sure how things worked.

1 Month on Scribble Hub: 65 Readers! (Better start than when I debuted in Japan!)

My first month was slow. But that’s to be expected for the type of media I am posting. It’s a complete fantasy novel, a slow burn one at that. So it doesn’t fit the mould of what usually gets readers and views on here. But it’s something that means a lot to me, and if it ends up meaning...

2000 words later, and I have finished my goblin political argument chapter. That’s a sentence I never thought I’d say. ?

    Ideal length for chapters

It depends on the media, I would say. Mine average around 3000 words a chapter. But it’s a completed novel I am uploading, so it’s a little different than web novels. I had never thought about splitting chapters to make it easier for mobile readers, but that is a valid point.

What is your story ACTUALLY about

That hope can be found even in hopeless situations. It is forged through unlikely alliances, trust built over time and people choosing to stand for each other, even when the world tells them it’s wrong.

What kind of fiction quality do you want to achieve as an author?

I chose a handful of different ones. Being accessible is important, but it would seem if the emotion and originality aren’t there, you aren’t going to leave any lasting impression.

What’s a sentence you wish someone would write about you?

It reminds me of that SpongeBob line where Squidward was like “it all began when I was born.” I say that a lot at work when people ask what’s wrong lol

Do you have a 'main theme' for your stories?

I can’t pick just one song, but I found myself listening to a lot of Iron Maiden while writing. A lot of their songs lean heavily on myths, war and legacy.

    What makes your fiction unique?

Thank you! I treat my goblins with care and consideration. They are a main part of my world, not background noise. One of my goblin characters, Vlor, became my favorite character over the span of the books.

Fellow Authors, what do you do in your downtime? (When you're not writing)

Well I work most of the day. Boring, I know. But when I’m home and not writing I’m usually brainstorming, drawing, or watching tv occasionally. I love hockey, so I’ll likely have a game on. I also sometimes make chainmaille jewelry, though that strains my eyes now ? Photography is another big...

Why A Lot Of Writing Advice Fails Writers

I wanted to write a “punchy” first chapter, but it didn’t serve my story overall. It’s a slow burn epic fantasy story, a multi book, multi generational story. So action and adventure immediately didn’t set my tone. Believe me, wrote and re wrote that first chapter for months before finally...

Finding a better idea once writing is ready nearly done.

I can see that. I know my brain goes ooooh shiny and new! That can lead someone to believe it’s better.

Finding a better idea once writing is ready nearly done.

I see that as character growth. My first drafts of the Goblin King of Eldoria were wildly different in tone from the finished one. Though I did begin it originally over 20 years ago ? When I picked it back up as an adult, I practically gutted everything, keeping the main spine intact. But if you...

    Rejection of AI story cover

I am Photoshop illiterate ? It’s a program I always meant to learn, but never did. Ironic since my other passion is photography.

    Rejection of AI story cover

Money is *definitely* an issue for me. I have to decide whether to refill my prescriptions or buy groceries this month. So dropping upwards of hundreds of dollars on commissions isn’t feasible for me. That doesn’t mean I’ll never commission an artist. If, by some chance, my books start making...

    What makes your fiction unique?

I treat goblins as an actual culture with long and storied histories. They aren’t cannon fodder, or inherently evil. They are librarians, machinists and freedom fighters. I even have a “goblin politics cheat sheet “ for my later books ?

What's your opinion on giving constructive feedback for folks who do generate AI slop?

I spend a lot of time on content, weighing the value of one word over another. And definitely no abandonment here. Eldoria still has many tales to tell. ?
