If you could rewrite your favorite story… would you?

Sir I believe what you are describing is called fanfiction. So, given what most of my writing is so far? Yes, but only if I don’t damage the original through mystic powers.

Quote your favourite opening lines to a novel.

The building was on fire, and it wasn’t my fault. - Blood Rites, the Dresden Files

    Traditional art as book covers

The point of a cover is to draw the eye and get someone to click on/buy the book. In a world where the baseline minimum most people consider aesthetically acceptable is AI art which tends to have a certain look, I’d say traditional art stands out in a very good way.

What comes first: Character or Plot

Premise. The core concept that I want to explore. Then I make characters that will do that, then I figure out what the plot will be, then I retrofit the characters to fit that plot.

    The Asha Effect

You either misunderstood the thread or have a profound problem on your hands. This is about an author failing to understand human psychology/their audience badly enough that they write a character that they, the author, intend to come off in a certain way but the reaction to said character is...

    Dungeon core idea(new I think?)

Sounds decent as a one off dungeon that’s part of a character driven story, allowing a few characters to argue about whether or not they would rather during the cooldown period between action scenes, all while having the relative safety of knowing that the next room literally doesn’t exist until...

    Ideal length for chapters

I personally do 3k+ per chapter, which I release at a rate of 1/week. Idk if this is optimal, but I’ve never gotten complaints. With that said, my current story that works like that is to this day still getting less traffic than my older story that was 1-2k per chapter, but posted 3-5 times a...

    Plug your story badly!

Well, At Least I’m a Magic Pirate Now: a story in which a finance bro gets a really shitty entry-level job and then has to deal with extreme marital strife, including massive amounts of sabotage by his mother-in-law.

    Posting fanfiction here

Yeah I’ve only written fanfiction. There definitely is original stuff but it’s pretty chill with fanfic

Have you ever thought, “What if my story never gets popular?”

I made a promise to myself when I started writing. “I’m doing this for me. I’ll stop when I’m not having fun.” I enjoy engagement and have been blessed with fans of my work that occasionally even comment. I have a modest patreon, even. I will not write something I don’t enjoy, nor will I allow...

    What makes your fiction unique?

As a harem litrpg isekai fanfiction with a system, the bar is of course quite low. However, I’ve gone out of my way to do two specific things. The first is just me trying to avoid a common pitfall, the 1. The characters my MC meets, both the ones he sleeps with and the ones who he almost...

    PAY ARTISTS !!

It contributes very little to the artistic value of the novel but quite a lot to the marketability of the novel. Same with posting about it on social media, plugging it in forums, timing out your posts so they hit the front page, putting your story in your signature, and a dozen other things...

    PAY ARTISTS !!

Here’s a problem. I think AI writing is BAD to the point that I find it utterly unusable. I find AI art to be good enough to serve as seasoning for my story. I don’t find the use of AI to be evil, I find it (at times) to be an insufficient tool. Further, the alternative to me using AI art is me...

Writer's Block: Does writing a novel on the side allow you to refresh your mind?

I agree it’s more about mood management and keeping the habit than it is about fixing the writer’s block. Personally I have my main story that is patreon backed and thus I MUST finish a chapter every week. It’s not a super successful patreon but I still have 50$ I need to earn per month and...

    How to make friends?

I’d say list all of your interests and systematically research all of them to see if there are organizations in your vicinity who are dedicated to that thing. You’ll get a lot of no, but this is something you might need to approach with the same level of failure tolerance as getting a new job in...

Is anyone else addicted to the Ranking?

I mean I enjoy the fact that I’m #1 in both pathfinder and Warcraft fanfiction. But that’s mostly because I write in relatively niche fandoms and actually continue stories past 10-15 chapters of setup. I try not to read into it too much.

Have you ever wanted to read a light novel that feels like a magical story from the Middle Ages?

I like to think that in ¡¡¡EL LEÓN OSCURO DE CAMELOT!!!!! ✌️REMEMBER it✌️ Oscuro, the Lion of Camelot’s, name is being yelled like a Brazilian football announcer on a winning goal, as well as the word Remember, but it is inexplicably brought down to the vocal range of golf commentary for the...
