To me, retard might as well mean dumbass. I'm also non religious and don't believe in fictional dramatizations of real people.

If I imply the you are X, which is "bad"
And at yhe same time solidifying X, is a bad existence which people enjoy doing.

Yep, I think there are words i am willing to use as insults but things that I personal can't because it would imply the group as an existence is an insult.

I figure its a good idea to remind people that their words do have consequences, that a word isnt an acceptable word just because its resurgent in popularity. I see it everywhere now, when it used to be practically nonexistent for the last decade. Its a word politicians and presidents are using again in press and law, so its become quite relevant to remind people not to start using it again just because others are.

Im not trying to target anyone in specific here, so if anyone feels attacked or a need to defend their usage, thats not on me. One of the things I do in my spare time is advocacy for marginalized groups, many of which I belong to. Disabled, queer, etc. As part of my activism to help reduce the widespread usage of the R word, I occasionally post about it on my social medias.

Do you do activism? Or are you one of the people who only tries to say things online?

I mean, when say things like that, you're bound to get interesting replies. Especially when it's on a writer's forum, out of nowhere. That being said, don't give words the power you don't want it to have.
