Indie is short for independent. They are privately owned studios, free from shareholder demands. As such, they have control over finances and direction.
Ya know, if there is one thing that could be great to have. Is a memory erasing tool. Erase my memories of playing a game, so I can enjoy it all over again.
Ya know, part of me wonders about the fire that would have started if Expedition 33, and any of the top contenders didn’t win GOTY. And instead, Nintendo wins with their own.

GTA 6 estimated to have spent about $2B so far. This game, if it does not turn a profit. The studio is cooked. Either down size if it is break even, or done for if not.
Personally, Silksong isn’t a bad game. Art direction is good, but when you think about it. The art direction isn’t too much different from others in the same genre.
Action is good, but I’ve played platformers with better action. Music is good, but played games with better music.
