  • GPT 5 is so terrible, it actually stopped reasoning rather than to look up something. :blob_neutral:
Testing out GPT 5, it is more inaccurate, it makes more stuff up. It is worse with nuances and other complexities. And to top it off? It lies, a lot. On top of ignoring instructions a lot.

not because of the data stealing, simply because the i in ai is grossly overestimated.
Forgot how hard Absented Age could be. You see, the second game tones back the difficulty a lot, but you are still required to be strategic.

So, I didn’t notice much since I was doing this on autopilot with the strategies and whatnot.

However, I was replaying a stage and didn’t pay attention to how much I was raising the enemy levels.

So, when I got to the boss fight. Which counts the level ups after the first win in the story.

It was brutal, I had to enter into Altered Form two or three times, and only then just barely won. :blob_neutral:

I lucked out a few times due to being able to endure a fatal hit by reducing an equipment durability to 0%.

Altered Form is the most brutal form of crowd control and power enhancements. And even that had me playing carefully.
Absented Age 2, the protagonist’s Altered Form. Plot wise, it is such a terrifying form. That it strikes fear into enemies and allies alike.

Mechanic wise, it is also broken.

    1. When entering into the form, petrify all enemies within 12 tiles.

    2. When entering into the form, a chance to cause fear to all enemies. Making enemies unable to act.

    3. Bind enemies, which causes 1.5x more damage with their water attack.

The water AoE attack also silences enemies. The 1.5x applies to back attack as well.

    4. Stats increases by about 25%.

    5. When enemy is killed, recover 1 MP(very useful).

    6. They also cause 1.5x more damage with their long range skill that is 5 tiles long.

    7. No longer weak to psychic, but electric.

    8. When entering into the form. They shake off status ailments, including Doom.

The only real weakness to the form is that, when MP is below 35%, they take 50% more damage, but this isn’t an issue if you have some MP potions on you.

Plus, they burst down enemies so quickly that it isn’t a problem.

The form is supposed to be a form that strikes fear into enemies and allies alike, and I’d say the mechanics does that quite well.

It is also a decisive state, where the protagonist quickly and efficiently eliminate their targets.

Hence, reflected in the mechanics as well.
Ya know, for like the past few years. Whenever I am at the finale of a game. I always have to go to the bathroom.

I swear, that’s like the worst time to get interrupted by bodily needs. :blob_catflip:
Ah right, I forgot the protagonist is like a Driftworld. Meaning they have the power of a world inside of them.

Which goes into why the church wants to capture them, to seal them within a dagger to use as a weapon against Gängers.

However, there is likely something else. Since none of their actions makes complete sense, even another character notices.

Even if they sealed the protagonist inside a weapon.

There is no guarantee their power will work, meaning there is another purpose. And I believe the second game, near the end gives a better idea.

Really hope a third game comes out, since I suspect it will go into more directly the church.

The protagonist is still the church’s enemy.
Replaying Absented Age Squarebound, the first game. Two floors before the boss, encountered a super boss. Used up a lot of items.

The next floor? Monster House, used up the rest of my items.

When I got to the boss, I had nothing left. To rub salt in the wound, the tip tells you how items can be used to break boss shield.

That was exactly why I was saving up so many items! :blob_catflip:
Holy crap, I think this is new.

Could be wrong though, since there were very few things I couldn’t translate too well.

Anyway, just discovered for the final phase of the final battle.

The protagonist intercepts the antagonist’s world, and summons all of their allies/friends to battle, and take to their Altered Form.

    I mean it makes sense.

    Pretty much. XD

It implies that there might be a third game at some point as well.

Since the first game, it has been depicting the church as a hostile force. Though, they are more caught between prioritization between threats.

Though, they were involved with some of the concerning problems as well.
Unfortunately, the new content is using characters in an arcade mode to unlock them. That’s fine and all, but by the end game.

The Altered Form is strong enough to crush enemies, and quickly leave the form.

I suppose it is a good back up in case you want to preserve the crystal longer.

There are just a few concerns with the form, but with a proper setup, you should be good.
Near the end of the game, and I can confidently say. My translations were almost exactly to the point. Nothing was missed aside from very slight things that are irrelevant.

Such as the wording a very rare times.
