Piggybacking off my previous post, here is One Armed Scissor. I'm not really a post-hardcore guy despite being an emo guy, but this song fucks. It's undistilled aggression in a 4 minute container that can barely hold it. It's like stealing a cop's gun. Nothing else like it.

The post-Nirvana age is so interesting because they just let whoever the fuck perform on late night TV back then.

Then again, Knocked Loose were on Jimmy Kimmel recently :blob_hmm:

You know, I was worried about the exact same thing
when I was 8 years old
Should I be lobotomized for thinking that croissants look tastier unbaked? Like, just the clump of raw dough shaped into a croissant. I bet the mouthfeel would be crazy.
I think every year the UN should make itself useful and put up a global poll for which country should be nuked. Of course, no one will actually get nuked, but I believe this poll will elucidate many things about our modern world :blob_hmm:

Described in 1 word, Kara's Walk Home are "soul". Few bands are raw, honest, and kinda cringe like they are. Sonically, they're reminiscent of Brave Little Abacus, but with a little bit more sensitivity to their DIY emo sound.

Lyrics great, instrumentals very good, Lead vocalist.... voice break overkill.... is going to break his larynx. I would prefer smoother with occasional voice break for emphasis or at least smoother singing mixed in.

I've personally listened to a lot of underground internet-era emo music, so I've developed a tolerance and even a fondness for the vocal style, but it can definitely be a barrier of entry for some people. But if you can get used to them, there are a lot of musicians in the scene making interesting stuff... Maybe it's self-gatekeeping in a way :blob_hmm:

Nah, self-gatekeeping is the way I write. ???
Baby birds are so disgusting and grotesque it's a good thing they're delicious
I have an interview lined up for a scholarship, but it could either fall sometime this week, next week, or the week after that.

The schedule has not been shared yet, but word on the street is that some other candidates already have their schedules.

I feel like I'm in the unexpected hanging paradox.

Feeling uninspired and soulless today, so have some generic crescendo-core post-rock that sounds like if an insurance commercial had a baby with an inspirational sports drama.

Listen if you hate good post-rock.

Genuinely better than the original. The added (or subtracted?) metric intrigue elevates a rather pedestrian set of melodies into something that really catches the ear. The pre-chorus especially works really well.

Can you tell I like math rock?

TTNG are a technically-gifted British 3 piece who kinda lack quality songwriting, but this song has some fun anti-capitalism in it. No cats though.

This song fucks. The live version is better, and you can really hear the tambourine shifting on and off-beat as the time signatures change around it.
My pet peeve with significant age gap romances (where the pairing are at completely different stages of life) is... what the fuck does the older party see in the younger that they're willing to wrestle with taboos or even the law to be with them?

Why is a 35 year old woman crying in anguish over an 18 year old? Go find someone your age, goddamn.

You will not lose out on much in life by not dating a teenager.

Today's recommendation comes in the form of a notepad screenshot because struggling with the character limit would've given me conniptions.

Norwegian Wood is a 1987 novel by the Japanese author Haruki Murakami, which tells the story of Toru as he struggles to decide whether he wants to bang his dead best friend's virgin girlfriend or the comparatively more free-spirited Midori. It is ultimately a tale about the people who cling to life and those who cling to death.

    Shit, wrong Norwegian Wood.

The Beatles song is a pleasant little tune in the beginning of the band's weird Indian phase, telling the fictional (but I wouldn't put it past him) story of John Lennon burning a woman's room down because she wouldn't sleep with him.

I don't fuck with Lennon that much, but this song is definitely a highlight of his songwriting.
