One of the best parts of Isaac Asimov's foundation was the declining empire's idea of science. The 'intellectuals' instead of doing anything to verify things themselves would just look over books and debate about which one they thought was best.
I don't generally get angry often but discriminating against the elderly pisses me off. We had some vendors that serviced equipment and one of them was an elderly Vietnamese man. He struggled lifting heavy things so would always choose to work on the older-yet-lighter equipment. I was fine with this, however I saw one of his co-workers yelling at him for that.
