    My mom's bought a new pot today. As a cook enthusiast, she got so excited she requested she had her picture taken with her new pot to share it with her friends.

    Out of curiosity, I compared that picture with photos she had carrying my siblings and I as babies.

    She was happier to recieve the pot than to have a new child.

    True, but as someone that surfs the Chinese internet, I would say it's even worse on average if you could believe that. Not to mention that regulations and comment filters are downright schizophrenic compared to the of the wider world, which are beacons of mental stability in comparison.

    I'd argue that on the other side of the spectrum, if you give unregulated access to the masses to say their thoughts with next to no consequences and start seeing the shit they say and type, you'd start empathising with some fascist ideals.
